Big news today as Longines launches the HydroConquest GMT, expanding its Diving range to include a GMT diver's watch. This is a first for the collection, which was introduced in 2007 as Longines' modern diver's watch. The HydroConquest GMT is available in four dial colours and is powered by the Longines L844 calibre, a movement that can display two time zones and is highly resistant to magnetic fields.
The presentation
Robust, legible and water-resistant to 300 metres, the Longines HydroConquest is the ideal partner for an exploration of the seabed. Chic and discreet in appearance, it features a sunray dial in a 41 mm case. A true diver's and travel watch, it is fitted with a bi-directional ceramic rotating bezel and a black rubber strap equipped with a micro-adjustment system.
Design side
This fearsome HydroConquest GMT watch with its green, blue, black or brown dial is very shiny and sunbrushed. Of course, there are also a few satin-finished surfaces, but the polished parts take centre stage. The green sunray dial is also highly visible, and the polished gold hands and hour-markers, covered in cream Super-LumiNova, give a neo-retro look that people still love. The 41 mm case sits well on the wrist, but it's also rather chunky. This is to be expected when you consider that it is water-resistant to 300 metres and, of course, has a screw-down caseback and crown. As on a classic GMT model, we find a bidirectional ceramic rotating bezel with diving scale. A date window is located at 3 o'clock, in keeping with the functions offered by the Hours, Minutes and Seconds on classic Hydroconquest models.
Movement side
The great novelty of this model is also to be found inside the case and under the stainless steel screw-down caseback. This is where the self-winding Longines L844 calibre is housed. Its heart beats at 25,200 vibrations per hour, and the movement is equipped with a silicon balance spring and other components made of non-magnetic materials. The result is a calibre that is ten times more resistant to magnetic fields than the ISO 764 reference standard. The L844 movement has a power reserve of up to 72 hours and, as you will have guessed, an additional GMT function.
Bracelet side
The Manufacture is offering three bracelets here: on rubber and steel at €3,100 with a folding clasp equipped with a micro-adjustment system, and on NATO with a pin buckle at €3,000.
