The pitch

This Hamilton PSR 2020 steel watch pays tribute to one of the most revolutionary watches ever made: The Pulsar Time Computer, the world's first watch with an LED display. This watch has the original look, but also the push-button lighting system of the legendary Pulsar. The name Pulsar refers to a type of rotating star that emits energy at very precise intervals. It was chosen to evoke the frenzy surrounding the conquest of space at the time. When it was launched in 1970, the Pulsar was an extraordinary success despite its exorbitant price. Everyone dreamed of wearing one and Hamilton was hard pressed to produce enough of them! A small nod to this legend, the Pulsar appeared on the wrist of the world's most famous secret agent James Bond, played by Roger Moore, in Live and Let Die.

What you need to know

The new Hamilton PSR differs from the original in one key respect; its display! Indeed, instead of the original LED display that left the dial completely dark when the button was not in use, this new iteration features a hybrid display. Reflective LCD screens ensure that the dial remains readable during the day, while pressing the button activates an OLED (organic light emitting diode) display giving the PSR the same scarlet glow as the original. In terms of improvements, you'll also appreciate its extra-thick sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and water resistance to 100 metres.
