The Set

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the iconic Monaco, Tag Heuer has manufactured a series of 1000 watches which is probably the most faithful modern model to the Monaco of 1969. We are lucky to be able to present you in this section, for the third time, one of these pieces, the 0086 out of 1000 exactly, in a perfect state of conservation and especially full set!

The little story

50 years ago Heuer wants to mark the spirits by releasing an automatic wrist chronograph before anyone else. Zenith does it a few months before with the El Primero movement... This does not take anything away from the Monaco which becomes the first automatic chronograph waterproof and square! All the elements of success were gathered but it needed a push to meet the success expected: the release of the film "Le Mans" in 1971. This marketing coup was not the result of a banal product placement but of chance. To get into the skin of his character Steve McQueen was helped by the professional driver Jo Siffert with whom he became friends and guess what watch equipped Jo Siffert during the race? To fit the role as closely as possible, Steve McQueen wore the same suit as his friend and fortunately for Jack Heuer, the same watch! The star's aura did the job and propelled the Tag Heuer Monaco to the top.

What you need to know

This collectible full set watch is numbered 86 out of 1000 and Jack Heuer's signature is affixed just above the words "In tribute to Steve McQueen". This model is in an exceptional state of preservation, it has been worn very little and no part has been modified. Its automatic movement is none other than the modern Calibre 11 which has largely proven itself. It has just undergone a complete overhaul by Tag Heuer and is still guaranteed xx by the brand.

The package

The watch will be delivered in its original precious wood case with the logo "Limited Edition 1969 - 2009 - 40th Anniversary". This case includes a second alligator leather strap with blue stitching and a tool to change the strap. The icing on the cake is that all the original papers are present in the box.
