For the Brief History

The year 1905 marked the discovery of the largest diamond in South Africa in the Premier Mine: the Cullinan. Weighing over half a kilo, or 2,500 carats the stone was so expensive that it found no takers. The South African government acquired it and offered it in 1907 to King Edward VII on the occasion of his 66th birthday as a token of gratitude for the Transvaal's recent autonomy.

With this Première Dame we were keen to highlight the precise workmanship of traditional jewellery. Split into two rings, the rose gold body of this engagement ring separates to better join, forming one. The latter has been set using the grain-setting technique to enhance the brilliance of the diamond and attract attention. The V-shaped bezel allows the central stone to reach a lovely height and catch every ray of light.
