A little history

The first written trace of the diamond goes back to the discovery in the 4th century B.C. of a Hindu manuscript, the Artha-Castra, a sort of tax code on precious stones which mentions the characteristics of a gem that seems to correspond well to the diamond.
At the time it was called Vajra which means "thunderbolt".
