A little history

The pear cut is the meeting of the perfect brilliance of the Brillant cut and the fine point of the Marquise cut. Designed in Bruges by the Flemish tailor Lodewyk van Berquem in 1476, the pear cut was originally called a Briolette. In earlier times, the facets were placed all around the stone. The pear cut, as we know it today, appeared in 1900; it is a cut remarkable for the femininity and softness it exudes.
