Chopard Alpine Eagle Watches

A collection born of legend St. Moritz

Before becoming one of the most iconic collections in contemporary fine watchmaking, the Alpine Eagle was a visionary idea born in the 1980s. At the time, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, then a young man in the family business, proposed a bold design: a sporty-chic steel watch with an integrated bracelet, called St. Moritz. Against all expectations, the model was a huge success and became Chopard's first true sports watch.

Forty years later, this founding creation is reborn in a new form: the Alpine Eagle, launched in 2019 as a tribute to both origins and modernity. More than a simple revival, this collection is an architectural, technical and ethical reinterpretation of the original model. It embodies the perfect alliance between watchmaking tradition and contemporary vision, between powerful design and lasting commitment.

Inspired by the Swiss Alps and the majesty of the golden eagle, the Alpine Eagle draws its identity from nature: its radiant dial evokes the eagle's iris, its integrated bracelet hugs the wrist like a flowing feather, its Lucent Steel A223 shines with a natural brilliance comparable to that of white gold.

The collection now appeals to design enthusiasts and devotees of mechanics alike, and is available in several sizes, materials and complications, while retaining a strong silhouette that is instantly recognizable.

Design: the power of steel, the purity of line

The aesthetic of the Chopard Alpine Eagle is based on a strong, immediate and identifiable visual language. In a modern reinterpretation of the codes of the sporty-chic watch with integrated bracelet, Chopard offers a silhouette that is both sculptural and harmonious, where each detail is designed to interact with the others.

The round case with its angular caseband is topped by a bezel secured by eight functional screws, positioned in pairs and always facing the same direction – a technical requirement that emphasizes the symmetry of the design. The notched crown is engraved with a wind rose, symbolizing the Alpine inspiration of the collection.

On the wrist, the Alpine Eagle is striking in its formal coherence: the integrated bracelet ensures a smooth transition between the case and the wrist. It is composed of brushed solid links, punctuated by a slightly domed polished central link, an immediately recognizable visual signature. This integrated design is a fundamental element of the Alpine Eagle DNA, as is its impeccable metallic finish.

The whole is crafted in Lucent Steel A223, an exclusive steel developed by Chopard after four years of research. Its properties are unique in the industry:

  • exceptional brilliance, close to that of white gold,
  • superior hardness (223 Vickers), more resistant than 316L steel,
  • hypoallergenic,
  • and, above all, 70% recycled, in line with Chopard's environmental approach.

This high-end material, which is technical, aesthetic and responsible, gives each Alpine Eagle a natural shine, remarkable durability and true modern legitimacy.

The design of the Alpine Eagle is therefore not simply a question of style: it is a complete vision, a watch conceived as a functional sculpture, faithful to Swiss elegance and the exacting watchmaking values of the House of Chopard.

Certified Manufacture calibers, guarantees of precision and excellence

Behind its strong and refined design, the Alpine Eagle collection reveals a watchmaking heart of rare excellence. Chopard has chosen to develop, assemble and decorate internally a large part of the movements that drive its models, in its Manufacture L.U.C in Fleurier, founded in 1996.

This technical independence allows the brand to offer a complete range of high-quality calibers that are high-performance, elegant and certified.

L.U.C calibers: the elite of Swiss mechanics

The most prestigious Alpine Eagle models are equipped with movements from the L.U.C. division, an acronym for Louis-Ulysse Chopard, the company's historic founder. These calibers are distinguished by:

  • their exceptional thinness (from 3.30 mm for the XPS and XP TT models),
  • their 22-carat gold micro-rotor for discreet and smooth winding,
  • a long power reserve (65 hours) thanks to Twin technology (double barrel),
  • and above all exceptional hand-finished details: Côtes de Genève, circular graining, chamfering, blued screws, etc.

All in movements certified as chronometers by the COSC, a guarantee of rigorous precision.

Some models, such as the Alpine Eagle XPS, also receive the Poinçon de Genève certification, an extremely rare distinction guaranteeing not only the technical quality of the caliber, but also that of the case and final assembly. A prestigious recognition, reserved for the greatest Swiss houses.

Chronographs and high frequencies

Other versions in the collection, such as the Alpine Eagle XL Chrono, are powered by the Chopard 03.05-C automatic caliber, a COSC-certified flyback chronograph movement, equipped with:

  • a column wheel,
  • a vertical clutch,
  • and a 60-hour power reserve.

Finally, the most technophile will be won over by the spectacular Cadence 8HF, equipped with the Chopard 01.12-C caliber beating at 8 Hz (57,600 v/h)—a very rare frequency in the industry, guaranteeing chronometric stability and increased shock resistance.

With this mechanical diversity, Chopard clearly asserts that the Alpine Eagle is not just an exercise in style. It is a true watch collection in its own right, driven by integrated technical mastery and a constant commitment to precision, durability and Swiss craftsmanship.

The main families of the Alpine Eagle collection

The Alpine Eagle collection is available in several sizes and complications to suit all lifestyles and wrists. Whether you are looking for a sober sporty-chic watch, a powerful chronograph or a certified haute horlogerie piece, you will find an Alpine Eagle that suits you.

Alpine Eagle 41: the timeless signature

This is the emblematic model of the collection, with a perfectly balanced diameter of 41 mm. Powered by a COSC-certified automatic chronometer caliber, this version embodies sporty chic in all its purity, with emblematic textured dials (Aletsch blue, Bernina gray, Monte Rosa salmon, etc.).

Integrated steel bracelet, monobloc design, applied hour markers and discreet date display at 4.30: a versatile and iconic model.

Alpine Eagle 33 & 36: compactness at the service of elegance

Originally designed for slim wrists, the 33 mm and 36 mm versions retain all the visual DNA of the collection, in a more compact and refined format. Available in steel, gold or two-tone, they often feature luminous dials and perfectly proportioned integrated bracelets.

Some references also house a self-winding COSC chronometer caliber, making these models true high-end mechanical watches - and not just women's variations.

Alpine Eagle XL Chrono: mastered power

With its diameter of 44 mm, the Alpine Eagle XL Chrono is aimed at lovers of bold, technical watches. Its COSC flyback chronograph caliber (Chopard 03.05-C) is equipped with a column wheel and a vertical clutch, a guarantee of performance and fluidity.

Available with a steel bracelet or blue rubber strap, it combines presence, ergonomics and robustness – in the spirit of a very high-level sport-chic chronograph.

Alpine Eagle XP TT: skeleton, titanium and absolute finesse

The ultra-technical version of the collection, the XP TT (Extra-Thin Titanium) is distinguished by its profile of 8 mm thickness and its case made entirely of grade 5 titanium. The skeleton dial reveals a L.U.C 96.17-S1 caliber: gold micro-rotor, 65 hours of power reserve, exceptional finishing.

This is a watch for the discerning collector: light, contemporary, minimalist – and mechanically spectacular.

Alpine Eagle XPS: the pinnacle of watchmaking

Extra-thin 8 mm case, L.U.C 96.40-L caliber, 22 ct gold micro-rotor, COSC certification and Poinçon de Genève... This model is the ultimate in the collection.

Its hand-textured “Monte Rosa” salmon dial echoes the natural shades of the Alpine peaks. The perfect watch for lovers of fine watchmaking who want to remain in the world of integrated sport-chic design, without compromising on excellence.

Responsible luxury: Alpine Eagle, a symbol of sustainable commitment

For several years now, Chopard has been designing fine watchmaking with environmental awareness. With the Alpine Eagle collection, the Geneva-based company is putting its commitment to ethical and sustainable luxury into practice by placing traceability, recycling and resource management at the heart of the manufacturing process.

Lucent Steel A223: the new generation of steel

Lucent Steel A223: the new generation of steel

The case, bezel and strap of most Alpine Eagle watches are made of an exclusive steel developed by Chopard: Lucent Steel A223. The result of four years of research and development, this alloy stands out for its unique properties in the watchmaking industry:

  • Exceptional brilliance, comparable to that of white gold
  • Hypoallergenic, ideal for daily wear
  • 50% harder than standard 316L steel (223 Vickers)
  • And above all: 70% recycled material

Beyond its mechanical and aesthetic performance, this material is a symbol of Chopard's environmental commitment. It embodies a bold choice: combining innovation, responsibility and luxury, without compromise.

Ethical gold and responsible production

Some two-tone or solid gold versions (bracelets, bezels, L.U.C micro-rotors) use exclusively ethical 750/1000 gold. Since 2018, Chopard has been committed to using 100% gold from responsible and traceable sources, respecting both the environment and mining communities.

The production of the calibers is also integrated in Switzerland, in the Chopard factories of Fleurier and Meyrin. From development to final decoration, each stage is controlled internally, according to rigorous environmental and social standards.

A watch that makes sense, beyond style

By choosing a Chopard Alpine Eagle, you wear on your wrist much more than an exceptional timepiece. You affirm a vision of modern, conscious and committed luxury, where innovation serves elegance, and elegance is part of a virtuous approach.
