Ranger: A chilly universe

This year 2022 marks the 70th anniversary of the British North Greenland Expedition. This one aims at carrying out scientific studies in glaciology, meteorology, geology and physiology. Very attached to history, Tudor presents, on this occasion, the Ranger model, a tool-watch directly inspired by the spirit (quite icy) of this daring adventure. The new Tudor Ranger 

This 2022 vintage Ranger follows in the footsteps of the Greenland Oyster Prince, without the date, with a style borrowed from the Tudor Rangers of the 1960s. Its 39 mm steel case (12 mm thick) gives it a more modern and wearable look than the 34 mm vintage models. Water resistant to 100m, the Tudor Ranger is equipped with a fixed steel bezel. Its domed dial with a matte black and grained finish features the iconic 3-6-9-12 Super-LumiNova hour markers that match the iconic Ranger hand. Updated from the last Ranger, the 2022 dial now features the Tudor shield logo in place of the rose.

The movement

This Tudor Ranger is equipped with the COSC-certified Manufacture caliber MT5402, 4 Hz and has a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.

The strap - A real revolution

The Oyster style strap of this Tudor Ranger is equipped with the T-fit safety clasp and this is not just a detail! In fact, this clasp launched on the Black Bay Pro allows you to adjust the strap's fit on the fly.

What we think

In unveiling this Ranger, Tudor emphasized that the Ranger name dates back to the 1920s and, despite its proximity to the Explorer, its "3-6-9-12" dial has long been part of Tudor history, including some of the dials on the original Oyster Prince ref. 7808. The slightly larger size of the numerals gives the dial more balance and its hands look sharper and more modern. The red-tipped second hand adds a well-dosed touch of sportiness. Finally, the T-fit clasp that we mentioned is a real innovation that we really enjoy finding on this watch. The Tudor Ranger is, in our opinion, one of the best value watches on the market today.
