DIOR

Iconic, the House of Dior is a reference in the world of jewellery. Sometimes coloured, sometimes richly paved with diamonds, Dior jewellery is unlike any other and reveals an infinite number of particularities... Discover the world of Dior and its numerous collections.

The story of a precursor

Christian Dior was born on January 21, 1905 in Granville, Normandy. Raised in the Villa de Granville, this home quickly became a true source of inspiration. Christian Dior cultivates a particular taste for pink and gray, the predominant colors of his childhood home, and flowers. The delicate scents of rose and lily of the valley are mainly found in his perfumes. He always carries a sprig of lily of the valley for good luck and will even place it in the hem of the models' dresses during his first fashion show. Christian Dior grew up in the art world, surrounded by the most illustrious painters and artists such as Jean Cocteau, Christian Bérard, Max Jacob and Henri Sauguet. Faced with all these talents, he gave up his career as a painter to run a gallery of paintings, before becoming a designer, a model and finally a fashion designer at the age of 42. But he is always inspired by the history of art and his friends for his collections and to illustrate his universe.

The couturier is a superstitious man who relies all his life on the predictions of fortune tellers. He also carries a number of objects to bring him luck on a daily basis: in addition to a sprig of dried lily of the valley, he keeps a four-leaf clover, two hearts, a piece of wood and a gold coin. But Monsieur Dior's most precious good luck charm is certainly his star. This star crossed his path on April 18, 1946, on the rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré. He stepped on this detached element of a horse-drawn carriage wheel. He saw it as an omen and said "yes" to Mr. Boussac to open a fashion house in his name. Christian Dior will keep this star all his life, in his design studio. His gris-gris and magic talismans guided him all his life and largely contributed to unleash his amazing creativity.

Mainly created to dress women who want to wear luxury jewelry, the lines are simplified to be worn on a daily basis. Dior Watches

In 1975, the house of Dior launched its first watch collections and focused on sober and classic models until the 2000s. Then, the brand transformed watches into real fashion accessories thanks to interchangeable bracelets that matched the different colors of each new collection. Dior Horlogerie draws its inspiration from its own heritage to reflect the haute-couture spirit of the house in its models.
