The Grand Seiko SLGC009, also known as the Tokyo Lion Tentagraph, represents the evolution of the sports watch at Grand Seiko. This timepiece embodies determination and excellence, echoing the lion, the brand's iconic symbol since 1960. Designed for the most demanding performances, this model combines robustness and sophistication, while integrating the Manufacture's first mechanical chronograph movement: the Tentagraph 9SC5 caliber.

A sporty and bold design

The design of the SLGC009 is inspired by the lion and its powerful character. The Brilliant Hard Titanium case, shinier than classic titanium, gives the watch a unique luster while being lightweight and scratch-resistant. This material, exclusive to Grand Seiko, is about twice as hard as stainless steel, guaranteeing the watch exceptional robustness.

With an imposing diameter of 43 mm and a thickness of 15.6 mm, this timepiece makes a statement on the wrist. The brushed surfaces of the case, reminiscent of a lion's sharp claws, extend to the horns and bezel, providing a striking contrast to the areas polished using the Zaratsu technique, typical of the Japanese company. The pushers, redesigned for better control of the chronograph, ensure smooth and precise handling.

A dial inspired by a lion's mane

The textured dial of the SLGC009 reflects the lion's mane, undulating in the wind. The intense brown color recalls the strength and elegance of the feline, while the three-dimensional counters at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock, similar to sharp claws, offer optimal readability. The elongated hour markers are generously covered with LumiBrite, ensuring perfect visibility even in the dark.

The brown rubber strap, resistant and comfortable, has been specially designed for this model. It has a tensile strength 2.7 times greater than conventional silicone, and is adorned with a lion's paw motif on the back. The High-Intensity Titanium folding clasp fits the wrist perfectly for optimal comfort.

The Tentagraph 9SC5 caliber: precision at the service of performance

The heart of the SLGC009 is its mechanical chronograph movement, the 9SC5 Tentagraph caliber. This cutting-edge mechanism beats at a frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour (10 vibrations per second), guaranteeing exceptional precision of +5 to -3 seconds per day, even when the chronograph is in operation.

The architecture of the movement incorporates a vertical coupling-clutch and a column wheel, ensuring smooth activation of the chronograph hands without any jumping. The three-pointed hammer allows instantaneous and perfectly synchronized resetting of the chronograph hands. With a double-pulse escapement and two barrels, this caliber offers a 72-hour power reserve, even in chronograph use.

Each movement is rigorously tested for 20 days, three days longer than other Grand Seiko mechanical calibers, to ensure consistent accuracy under all conditions.
