A LUM collection born in 2017

The history of watchmaking is intimately linked to the quest for perfect legibility, particularly for instruments designed for extreme professionals. As early as the 1930s, the hands, numerals and hour markers of pilot and diver watches were coated with luminescent materials. After the tritium and radium era, Super-LumiNova became the benchmark luminescent material. Bell & Ross, true to this tradition, has made luminescence a distinctive element of its creations, notably through its LUM collection. This line, inaugurated in 2017, has explored all the possibilities offered by Super-LumiNova, with emblematic models such as the BR 03-92 HOROLUM, the BR 03-92 FULL LUM and the GREY LUM and Diver FULL LUM editions, offering exceptional legibility day and night.

The manufacture collection, BRX5, enriched

Perpetuating Bell & Ross's aeronautical heritage and iconic “round in the square” visual signature, the BR-X5 in 2022 added a new chapter to the history of the BR 05 range launched in 2019. The design, style and technical features of the BR-X5 position it as a superlative BR 05: its BRCAL.323 caliber, a prestige manufacture movement designed by Kenissi, lifts the BR-X5 collection to the pinnacle of precision with a power reserve of around 70 hours, while the architecture of its multi-component case favors purity and radicality, resistance and lightness. Today, Bell & Ross completes its top-of-the-range line with this new reference, the BR-X5 GREEN LUM, which expresses in its conception as well as in its design, a desire to innovate, to dare and to differentiate.

A BR-X5 with a luminescent case

Thus, Bell & Ross has chosen to go one step further and explore a new mode of creative expression. After applying the concept of luminescence to the hands, numerals, indexes and dial of various models, it's the 41mm case of an unprecedented watch that glows spectacularly in the dark thanks to a composite developed especially for Bell & Ross, LM3D.

For the first time, the Maison's manufacture line ventures onto the LUM planet.

A conceptual limited series

For this new version of the BR-X5, the architecture of the multi-component case plays the card of lightness alternating in this multi-layer assembly between LM3D and grade 2 bead-blasted black DLC titanium.

Cut from a block of grade 2 DLC-treated titanium, the container housing the mechanism is inserted between two shields fashioned from a photoluminescent composite material, LM3D, made from quartz fibers diffusing a powerful green luminescence. In the dark, the entire case glows to highlight the indications on the dial: hours, minutes, seconds, date and power reserve. Beyond its watchmaking function, the new BR-X5 GREEN LUM, issued in a limited series of 500, achieves through this innovation the rank of a unique conceptual art object.

BRCAL.323: a movement with a difference

The BR-X5 collection from Bell & Ross, true to its vocation of offering high-performance instruments to professionals, is powered by the BRCAL.323 caliber. This self-winding mechanical movement, developed exclusively for the brand, is a concentrate of high precision. It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), has a 70-hour power reserve and is COSC-certified chronometer. Its customized oscillating weight, inspired by sports car rims, and its variable-inertia balance, visible through the sapphire caseback, testify to the quality of this movement. A quick date-correction device facilitates date setting. This exceptional caliber is guaranteed for 5 years.
