A brief history

Ceramic style

You can't fail to notice the ceramic bezel on this 116518LN model! Introduced in 2011 on the 116515LN model, a Daytona in Everose Gold, ceramic has been a real revolution for this iconic collection! But like all Rolex innovations, this bezel is a real innovation. The one-piece Cerachrom bezel in high-tech ceramic offers many advantages: its hardness makes it virtually scratchproof, it retains its colour despite the effects of UV rays and it is corrosion-resistant. In addition to this extreme durability, the tachymetric scale is highly legible, with moulded recessed graduations that are coloured by a thin layer of platinum or gold deposited using the PVD process.

A manufacture chronograph calibre

This Daytona is equipped with the 4130 calibre, a mechanical chronograph movement with a column wheel and vertical clutch and automatic winding, entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. This calibre was presented on 23 March 2000 at Baselworld and ushered in a new era for Daytona models!

Like all Rolex Perpetual movements, the 4130 is COSC-certified. The oscillator, the true heart of the watch, includes a blue Parachrom hairspring patented and produced by Rolex in an exclusive alloy. Completely impervious to magnetic fields, this hairspring offers great stability in the face of temperature variations and remains up to ten times more accurate than a traditional hairspring in case of shock. In addition, its architecture has fewer components than a standard chronograph, thus improving its reliability.
