Breitling Avenger II Seawolf automatic 45 mm Full Set 2018

An “extreme” diving watch

The Avenger II Seawolf is a professional model, designed for elite divers! This watch, which combines powerful aesthetics with exceptional performance, was introduced in 2013, and follows in the footsteps of the first Seawolf of the name, introduced in 2003.

Built on the Avenger's robust platform, the Seawolf II is also a functional success: despite the technical constraints imposed by the need to withstand pressures of 300 bars, or 3000 meters, its dimensions have remained very reasonable and offer perfect ergonomics. The case measures 45 mm in diameter and is almost 18.5 mm thick - a real beast! Constructed entirely of steel, you can feel the robustness of this watch when you wear it on your wrist.

For the design of this extreme diving watch, Breitling commissioned researchers at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne to carry out numerical simulations to ensure perfect case geometry. Water-resistance-critical components feature spectacular characteristics: the watch's sapphire crystal (anti-reflective) is 4.80 mm thick, and the case back is 4.75 mm thick. The screw-down crown is a patented design with two seals and is protected with two protective reinforcements.

But to withstand 3000 meters, the Avenger Seawolf II has another trick up its sleeve! It's equipped with a safety valve that enables it to balance pressure differences inside and outside the case. As soon as the internal overpressure reaches around 3 bar, the valve automatically evacuates the helium accumulated during prolonged stays at great depths, thus preventing the case from exploding.

Diving watch obliges, this Avenger's bezel is unidirectional and easy to grab thanks to the four riders present.

As for design, this version stands out for its yellow dial, with oversized baton hands and hour markers coated in SuperLuminova, allowing optimal legibility! There's also a date at 3 o'clock and a second hand ending in a red diamond for a perfect contrast. This watch is adorned with a steel “Pilote” bracelet.

Finally, to animate this watch, we find the Breitling 17 caliber, certified chronometer by the COSC.
