Getting to know you

Presented in 1945, the Rolex Datejust was the first automatic wristwatch to display the date in a window on the dial. This watch remains a “must-have” for many. The 16233 reference we present today appeared in 1987/1988 with the 162XX series, replacing the 160XX references. As always in the Datejust family, the changes are minimal, with a smooth evolution of the design. However, the legendary caliber 3135 was introduced, along with 904L steel and sapphire crystal! A “modern” watch before its time. This series has undergone a number of changes over the course of its existence, including the switch from pierced to non-pierced lugs, and the transition from tritium to Luminova and then Super-Luminova!

This series is the last of the five-digit Datejust references, making these models the “neo-vintage” watches we love so much!

The archetypal Datejust

This model is the archetypal Datejust, as we imagine it: a particularly elegant and comfortable “Jubilé” bracelet, an iconic fluted bezel in yellow gold and a “Rolesor” configuration. This meeting of gold and steel on the same watch creates a subtly mastered interplay of balance and harmony.

The watch we present is from 1993/1994. It features a classic white dial with yellow gold Roman numeral hour markers. But its added charm is of course the presence of tritium on the hands and “lumes plots”, for a unique patina. As a 1990's model, the case of this watch has no pierced lugs.

This Datejust 36 is powered by the Rolex caliber 3135. This horological masterpiece is chronometer-certified by the COSC and has been inspected by our watchmaker. It offers 48 hours of power reserve, stop seconds and rapid date change.

The package

This watch is in beautiful condition and has just left our workshop for polishing/satinning. It will be delivered in a Lepage pouch. It has also been authenticated by our Rolex-approved experts and as such benefits from our one-year Lepage Vintage warranty.
