The story

7ème Continent

LIP, the French brand of great explorers such as Maurice HERZOG and Eric TABARLY, is joining forces with Patrick DEIXONNE and Expedition 7e Continent to raise awareness of the urgent need to manage plastic waste in the oceans. To support the 7th Continent association, the French watch brand presents the new Nautic 3 Expedition 7th Continent. This new watch and its special case contain no plastic components.

Expédition 7e Continent is a non-profit association, recognized as being in the public interest, headed by Patrick DEIXONNE, Founder and member of the Société des Explorateurs Français. No ocean is preserved by the massive presence of plastics. Plastics carry endocrine disruptors, heavy metals and other pollutants, all of which put a strain on ecosystems. They present a proven risk to marine biodiversity and, given the trophic links between species, their effects on human health are irrefutable.

In 20 years' time, if significant action is not taken, both at industrial level and in terms of individual behavior, these continents of waste (there is one in each gyre, with the Pacific gyre representing around seven times the size of France) will accumulate a surface area far larger than Europe, with consequences that are still largely unknown. In the face of this threat, Expedition 7th Continent is working for a preserved ocean, striving to combine scientific, educational and media know-how, structured around a common commitment: To understand, make people understand and reduce ocean plastic pollution for a preserved planet.

A Skin Diver design

Today, LIP reissues its mythical Nautic 3 while modernizing it! This watch features a 39 mm “skin diver” case in brushed steel, polished on the bevels. An interesting choice for a toolwatch, the 39 mm diameter is perfect for most wrists. The watch is 13.2 mm thick, which is quite thin among modern divers. This thickness is also due to its 3 mm domed double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. This gives it a vintage look that's much appreciated! This case has been tested to ensure water resistance to 200 meters, as on the original model.

On this model, we find a unidirectional bezel with a clean, precise click, and a blue aluminum insert. A good point for LIP, as it helps give it that retro style.

This reference 670096 features an “electric” blue dial with a very seventies look! Large blue indexes add a touch of color to the white surround. The 6-9-12 hour markers have an old-fashioned typeface, and there's a date window at three o'clock. Finally, legibility is excellent thanks to the application of Super Luminova to the indexes, baton hands and lollipop second hand. Last but not least, this watch is adorned with a fully satin-finished steel bracelet with a three-fold folding clasp.

Finally, this “0 plastic” watch for nature lovers, will be delivered to you in a special cardboard and paper box.

A Franco-Swiss caliber

LIP has chosen to power this Nautic 3 with a Franco-Swiss caliber! This automatic movement, reference G100, is manufactured by the Swiss Manufacture La Joux-Perret and assembled in the Humbert-Droz workshops in Bisonne. This three-hand caliber is a modern movement offering 68 hours of power reserve while maintaining a frequency of 28,800 vibrations, much higher than the other movements in this range.

Visible through the transparent caseback, LIP has chosen the highest level of finishing offered by Manufacture La Joux-Perret! Indeed, this is a “meticulous” version with blued screws, “Côte de Genève” finishing and a diamond bevel. What's more, the daily drift tolerance is +/- 7 seconds. This adjustment is provided by Humbert Droz. A real tour de force from LIP!
