Heritage Black Bay: the collection

Tudor's Heritage line is characterized by a singular creative process that began in 2010 with the presentation of the Heritage Chrono model, a free reinterpretation of the brand's first chronograph dating back to 1970. Since then, some of the most important references in Tudor's history have been brought back to the fore. Far from simply reissuing an identical classic, the models in this line are the result of temporal collisions between past, present and future, where the aesthetic codes that have contributed to the fame of historic models are injected into contemporary timepieces. The Heritage Black Bay models are part of this approach offering a condensation of over 60 years of TUDOR diving watches.

The model

From its history, TUDOR has extracted the characteristic elements of the personality of the Heritage Black Bay model. It inherits the general lines and domed dial and crystal of the first TUDOR diving watches. It features the particularly prominent winding crown of the famous 1958 reference 7924, nicknamed Big Crown. Finally, it borrows the characteristic angular-shaped hands, nicknamed Snowflake, from the watches delivered in quantity to the French Navy in the 1970s.

Presented at its release in 3 versions, burgundy, blue or black, this 79230B “Black” comes closest to the pioneering spirit of the first TUDOR diving watches. With its domed black dial and matching bezel, there's a notable and novel detail on its exterior! In fact, it takes the famous red triangle of its unidirectional bezel from the diving models produced by TUDOR in the late 50's.

Finally, the most important element on this model, which sets it apart from earlier Tudor models, is its Manufacture caliber! This MT5602 movement displays hour, minute and seconds functions. A high-performance caliber with excellent precision and proven robustness, it offers a 70-hour power reserve, enabling you to put the watch down on Friday evening and pick it up again on Monday morning without having to wind it. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 Alt/H (4 Hz), it is regulated by a variable-inertia oscillator with silicon balance spring and maintained by a through-bridge, a guarantee of robustness. It is also certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC).

The running has been checked and the water-resistance tested to guarantee optimum performance.
