- NEW
This edition of 1,000 pieces is produced in partnership with the aerial firefighting organization Coulson Aviation. Its carbon fiber case is 3D printed using an innovative method never before used in watchmaking.
The story
Oris' new partnership with Coulson Aviation is based on innovation and environmental protection. Oris is working on several fronts to achieve its Change for the Better mission. Certified as a “climate-neutral company” the brand collaborates with pioneering agencies to bring about changes that will make the world a better place.
With this in mind, the Manufacture is extremely proud to announce a new partnership with Coulson Aviation, the world's leading aerial firefighting organization.
Located in Canada, this independent, family-run business sends pilots, aircraft and equipment to forest fire-affected regions around the world. During the northern hemisphere's summer season, this mainly involves the United States and California, and during the southern hemisphere's summer, resources are divided between Australia and South America. Their mission: to extinguish fires and help firefighters in the field, as well as to protect life and the environment.
Together, Oris and Coulson Aviation have worked on the Coulson Limited Edition, a carbon fiber watch with a bright orange dial reminiscent of fire.
Focus on the case and dial
To mark this important partnership between Oris and Coulson Aviation, Oris has created a watch that uses the base of the Big Crown ProPilot and is inspired by the bold spirit of the two independent companies.
It features a flamboyant orange gradient dial, a reminder of the dangerous environments to which Coulson's brave pilots rush. It's topped by applied Super-Luminova indexes for optimal legibility.
But the most striking feature of this watch is its carbon fiber case! Manufactured using a new, innovative and patented 3D printing process, this has never been seen before in watchmaking. This was achieved with 9T Labs, using their innovative advanced 3D printing technique. Their technique enables the final appearance of carbon fiber patterns to be controlled, and Oris is the first watchmaker to apply it to its watches. A fixed grey PVD-plated titanium bezel, screw-down crown and caseback, and black textile strap complete this high-tech, lightweight model. The watch, including movement, weighs just 65 grams.
Movement-wise: a highly durable caliber
The Oris Calibre 400 presented in 2020 was designed to fit a wide range of models from the independent house. It was therefore logical to find this movement in this extreme watch. Totally new and designed entirely by the Oris Manufacture, this automatic movement defines “the new standard of performance in watchmaking” according to the brand.
The Oris caliber 400 is a true horological feat. Thanks to the use of two barrels, it offers an exceptional power reserve of 120 hours, or five days of autonomy. Its precision is simply remarkable, with a maximum variation of -3/+5 seconds per day, exceeding COSC criteria. This performance is due in part to the use of non-ferrous components, such as a silicon escape wheel and anchor, giving the movement a high resistance to magnetic fields. Oris is so confident in its caliber that it accompanies it with a ten-year warranty and recommends servicing every ten years, testifying to its robustness and reliability.
