The Heritage collection perfectly embodies Grand Seiko. Its timepieces feature a balanced design and highlight the fundamental principles of watchmaking. This selection of classic watches revives the designs and styles of the first Grand Seiko timepieces, including the 44GS and 62GS from 1967, reinterpreted with state-of-the-art movements, manufacturing techniques and expertise. Grammar of Design

The “Grand Seiko Style” is also known as the Grammar of Design. This stylistic code was conceived by the first designer hired by the Seiko brand, the Japanese Taro Tanaka. He wanted Seiko watches to stand out in the shop window alongside their Swiss competitors. To achieve this, he drew up a list of fundamental rules to follow, expressing simplicity, purity and practicality. The use of light and its reflection is one of the main rules, which is why the case facets are hand-polished in the Zaratsu style to create distortion-free surfaces, allowing the case edges to be sharp and precise. The hands and hour markers are also diamond-cut to ensure excellent legibility, even in low ambient light conditions. The dials are clear and easy to read. And it's thanks to all these elements, that you can recognize a Grand Seiko!

The model

This SBGX261 features a steel case 37 mm in diameter and 10 mm thick. Its design is simple, uncluttered and discreet. Attention to detail is exceptional, with a case finish that combines a brushed finish with polishing using the famous Zaratsu technique. The indexes are faceted and applied, with a striated finish to stand out from the black dial, and the dauphine hands are finely brushed.

Not to be outdone, the steel bracelet features a satin-finish, with a small bevel on the edges and polished flanks. A folding clasp with the Grand Seiko logo is used to open and close the bracelet.

Movement

The watch is powered by a Manufacture caliber 9F62. It is hand-assembled by Seiko Epson's watchmakers, and features all the expertise acquired by the brand since 1969. In fact, it's a top-of-the-range quartz caliber guaranteeing a precision of +/- 10 seconds. To achieve such a result, the caliber is thermo-compensated to regulate quartz oscillations according to temperature variations. Setting the time and date is very easy with this caliber. Simply pull the crown out to the first position to move the hour hand independently. The second position adjusts the hour and minute hands to set the exact time. Note that fine adjustment is possible, so as not to stop the second hand, and thus let its high precision continue.
