Alain Silberstein, renowned for his avant-garde creations, joins forces with Yema to create an extraordinary timepiece. The collaboration is a real success! The result? A timepiece as beautiful as it is innovative, where every detail has been thought out to offer an exceptional aesthetic and technical experience.
Alain Silberstein: an architect of time
Alain Silberstein, a leading figure in contemporary watch design, has revolutionized the industry with his avant-garde approach. Trained as an architect, he has brought a unique aesthetic to watchmaking, blending geometric rigor with vibrant color. His creations, often described as works of art, are distinguished by their originality and boldness. Silberstein has collaborated with major watchmakers, leaving an indelible mark on the history of the wristwatch.
Today, it's with YEMA that Silberstein designs a bold, colorful and original model, This timepiece is equipped with a micro-rotor manufacture caliber (CMM.20), a DLC-coated grade 5 titanium case and fully luminescent 3D relief indexes made from Super-LumiNova.
A cross between watchmaking and art, this limited edition of 500 is a work of art in its own right. Each individually numbered watch is a celebration of watchmaking craftsmanship.
A dial that transforms time into art
Alain Silberstein's dials are veritable miniature paintings, combining pure geometry and vibrant colors. Simple shapes - squares, circles, rectangles - intertwine in bold compositions, while primary colors create striking contrasts. Original typography and unexpected materials, such as mother-of-pearl or enamel, enrich this aesthetic palette. Each creation is the fruit of careful thought, where every element is chosen to create a unique emotion and experience.
For this model, the black dial serves as the backdrop for an explosion of vibrant, colorful geometric shapes: a bright red hour hand resembling a stylized triangle, a striking yellow arrow-shaped minute hand and a playful blue starfish seconds hand.
The result of cutting-edge engineering, this dial is distinguished by its 3D Super-LumiNova indexes. This unprecedented technique revolutionizes our perception of time, offering a more artistic and luminous reading, thanks to a striking three-dimensional effect. This unique, patented 3D process involves embedding Super-LumiNova in polyester micro-molds to produce tiny blocks that, due to their increased volume, emit more light.
A titanium case brings back memories
The case of this Yema instantly takes us back to Alain Silberstein's distinctive aesthetic universe. Its round lines, softened by long, slender lugs, are an indelible signature of his creations. This design, which made the eponymous models launched in 1987 such a success, is here sublimated by a new interpretation, while retaining the original spirit.
Designed by Alain Silberstein and entirely bespoke, this 40mm-diameter grade 5 titanium case, coated with black DLC, is a one-of-a-kind piece. Its complex structure, the fruit of meticulous assembly of several elements, is the result of a state-of-the-art manufacturing process.
The lugs, harmoniously integrated into the case back, create a fluid and elegant transition to the bracelet. This visually seamless design emphasizes the clean lines of the case, for a result of great sobriety.
The design of this watch is marked by the presence of a symmetrical double crown, an aesthetic choice that gives it a vintage look while optimizing its functionality. The upper crown, in blue Cerakote® ceramic, is used to manipulate the inner bezel, while the lower crown is used to set the time. Screwed together, these crowns guarantee water resistance to 200 meters.
Finally, this watch comes with two interchangeable bracelets in high-quality FKM rubber: a classic black and a bolder burgundy red. Both are equipped with Grade 5 titanium folding buckles with black bead-blasted DLC coating, offering optimal comfort and timeless elegance.
A technical, innovative and modern caliber
The sapphire caseback allows the CMM.20 micro-rotor caliber to be admired in all its splendor, as well as preserving a water-resistance of 20 BAR (200m). The black electroplated bridges and red oscillating weight offer a modern, distinctive aesthetic. Symbols of bravery, perseverance, courage and love in Japanese culture, the Koi carp embossed under the sapphire crystal of the caseback bring serenity and contrast with the bright colors and geometric shapes of the dial.
The innovative design that blends modern art and serenity, the result of Alain Silberstein's boundless inspiration, seems to come to life through this model, its caliber and its Koi carps.
On the technical side, this Manufacture Morteau Calibre 20 (CMM.20) micro-rotor has a unique design! Its ingenious architecture and high quality Franco-Swiss components ensure high performance. Entirely designed and developed by Olivier Mory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the regulating components are manufactured in Switzerland, while the bridges and plates are machined by YEMA in its Morteau workshops.
This movement offers near-chronometric precision (-3/+7 seconds accuracy) and a 70-hour power reserve while beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). Its modern architecture means that it is only 3.70 mm thick. The gold-plated balance and tungsten micro-rotor stand out against the black background of the galvanized ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) bridges.
