Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Automatic 41 mm Full Set 2019

The story

Designed in 1962, 1,714 Memovox Polaris watches were produced between 1965 and 1970. It was equipped with several types of dial and hands, depending on the market for which it was intended. Minute variations in numerals, hour markers and signatures are now the passion of the most discerning collectors. In 2008, Jaeger-LeCoultre decided to pay tribute to this legendary model by creating a more-than-perfect replica, the limited-edition Memovox “Tribute to Polaris”. A reference very similar to the original Memovox Polaris, as it was launched in 1968, forty years earlier.

In 2018 Jaeger-LeCoultre relaunched the historic Polaris name with a complete new line of never-before-seen watches at SIHH 2018. A collection that highlighted the Manufacture's heritage in diving watches. Since then, this collection has been enriched with various references.

The model

This Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris “Automatic” brings together the best of the Grande Maison's watchmaking tradition and attention to detail in a contemporary, sporty and elegant watch, enhanced by a vintage touch.

The architecture of the black dial is unique. It combines several finishes on three concentric circles: in the center, the soleillée finish recalls the original Memovox Polaris; the graining around the perimeter highlights the hours and minutes track; finally, an opaline treatment underlines the rotating inner bezel. The dial features an applied Jaeger-LeCoultre logo and traditional Arabic numerals married to contemporary trapezoid indexes. The large Super-LumiNova-coated hands offer excellent low-light legibility.

This Polaris Date features the signature 41mm case, with a polished and brushed finish and the collection's two signature crowns, one for setting the time and the other for adjusting the rotating inner bezel. It rests on a brown leather strap, which perfectly matches the watch's vintage look. The case is topped by a domed crystal, a further reminder of its vintage inspiration. What's more, the sapphire caseback reveals the model's mechanics.

This is the calibre 899/1. An automatic manufacture movement measuring 4.65 mm in height and offering 38 hours of power reserve.

The package

This 2019 “Polaris Automatic” is in excellent condition and will be delivered Full Set with its case as well as all its papers and documents. It is guaranteed by JLC until 2027. Please note that the leather strap is slightly marked and a loop is missing. Like all our watches featured on our 10h10 episode, this Polaris has been inspected by our watchmakers.
