The Black Bay Story

The Black Bay 32/36/41 made its debut in 2012 and, as its name suggests, came in three sizes: 32, 36 and 41 mm, with a choice of three dials: black, blue and silver. Initially black, the Black Bay was similar to the Rolex Explorer model due to its minimalist aesthetic. Then the colour blue made its appearance, to be replaced today by silver, giving this collection a pure and striking look. The collection has since been extended to include an extra size, the 39, and is now called the Black Bay 31/36/39/41 collection.

Let's get to know each other

The black dial of this Ref. M79540-0003 has a matt finish that contrasts with its polished steel bezel and 41 mm case, which alternates between brushed and polished finishes. This Tudor Black Bay 41 bears the text "Rotor Self-Winding", giving it a vintage feel but not the only one! In fact, this "curved" text has become a trademark indicating the use of an external movement.

Snowflake and big crown

We are not going to talk about the weather here, but about the time that passes on our wrists. The mythical dial of this Tudor Black Bay draws its inspiration from the DNA of the first Tudor divers. Indeed, it features "Snowflake" hands, characteristic of the brand's watches delivered to the French Navy in the 1970s. As for the crown, it refers to the 1958 Tudor Ref. 7924 model, nicknamed Big Crown.
