After his trip to the United States, Fred Lip returns to Europe convinced of the future of the electric watch. In 1952, Fred Lip presents the prototype of the world's first electric wristwatch to the Paris Academy of Sciences. This revolutionary invention marked a major turning point in the history of watchmaking. The watch equipped with the revolutionary R27 movement went on sale in 1958. Fred Lip, proud of this French innovation, decides to offer a preview copy to General de Gaulle, and then to the President of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower.
