The story

The Mille Miglia is a spellbinding automotive odyssey through Italy's picturesque landscapes, where roaring cars whizz through the verdant valleys of Tuscany, flanked by timeless villages perched on hills bathed in light. The heady scent of olive groves and vineyards mingles with the electrifying excitement of competition. That's how to describe the 1,600 kilometers of the Mille Miglia race. It's all this at once: an anthological event, which Enzo Ferrari didn't hesitate to describe as "corsa più bella del mondo"! A unique gathering of over 400 historic cars and their drivers!

In 2018, Chopard celebrated three decades of partnership with the Mille Miglia race, This alliance in the world of classic motorsport, which harks back to Chopard co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele's passion for classic cars, finds its extension with the Mille Miglia 2019 Race Edition.

In fact, since 1988, Chopard has been associated alongside this legendary competition as its main partner. In particular, this has resulted in the Mille Miglia watch collection, which has taken an important place within the house's catalog.

The model

This Chopard Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph is instantly recognizable thanks to its natural rubber strap featuring the motif of the famous Dunlop Racing tire from the 1960s and its unique Arabic numerals. Strong design and technical qualities combine to make this watch a pleasure to wear every day. Its 39 mm steel case houses a vintage dial with elongated numerals typical of the Mille Miglia. Its chronograph function and red Mille Miglia logo give it a sporty, racy look. The plain finish of its black-colored dial is very neat, and reminds us of vintage watches.

The hands and hour markers are coated with Luminova, ensuring perfect legibility of time indications in all circumstances. The dial features three chronograph counters, with minutes at 9 o'clock, hours at 6 o'clock and small seconds at 9 o'clock. There's also a calendar, positioned at 4:30.

To ensure performance and efficiency, this 2019 Migla Mille is powered by an automatic chronograph movement, the ETA 2894. It offers 45 hours of power reserve and is clocked at 28,800 vibrations/hour to ensure short time measurement to 1/8th of a second. Very useful for reading and allowing calculation of average racing speed thanks to its tachometric scale.
