This Master Control Chronograph Calendar follows in the footsteps of the round watches very much in vogue in the 50s, and also embodies the Grande Maison's desire to reinforce the functional dimension of its calendar watches! Its dial offers incredible legibility for both functions and complications. Offered with an assortment of interchangeable bracelets - one in steel links, the other in blue leather - this elegant chronograph changes its look in a flash, while remaining resolutely in tune with the times.
Master Control: The collection
Timeless style, sophisticated mechanics and original interpretations of useful and emblematic horological complications have made Jaeger-LeCoultre's Master Control collection a classic that has kept up with the times for thirty years. Never ceasing to reinvent itself, it is imbued with the Maison's deep respect for tradition and its constant quest for innovation.
Incarnation of the Maison's attachment to horological excellence, the Master Control takes its name from Jaeger-LeCoultre's own certification called "1000-hour Control". It was the first watch collection to undergo this rigorous testing protocol - not only of the movement, but also of the cased watch - which has since become the standard for all Jaeger-LeCoultre timepieces. What's more, this collection celebrates the continuing value of mechanical watchmaking and its most iconic complications, even in the 21st century.
Chronograph Calendar: a refined, contemporary allure
All sobriety, with its harmonious proportions, the Master Control collection is inspired by the iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre round watches of the 1950s-1960s, such as the Memovox and Futurematic. The Master Control Chronograph Calendar with its blue dial emphasizes purity and refinement. The dial features two different tones, including one dedicated to the railway track just below the pulsometer, which encircles the dial. While this indication was originally developed to enable doctors to measure their patients' heart rates, it remains just as important in our contemporary lifestyles. Also on this dial are three sub-dials and the apertures displaying the day and month, with a striking contrast that naturally draws the eye.
The clear architecture of the dial allows intuitive reading of complex information, displayed by the complete calendar and bi-compax chronograph. Located at 3 o'clock, the chronograph 30-minute counter faces the second hand sub-dial at 9 o'clock. The day and month apertures at the top of the dial are counterbalanced by a circular moon-phase and date indicator at 6 o'clock. Combined with the deep blue of the moon-phase indicator, the lightly textured azure of the three sub-dials contrasts elegantly with the intensity of the sunray dial, which captures and reflects light as the wrist moves. Finally, the contrast between the cool brushed steel Dauphine hands and the trapezoidal hour markers enhances legibility.
A design of refined proportions for contemporary sophistication
A sober, casual elegance emanates from the steel Master Control case, with its 40 mm diameter, convex bezel and dynamically curved lugs. The lugs and case are finished in a satin-finish that matches the polish of the bezel, crowns and lugs. The model is not lacking in delicate details, with bas-relief engravings on the bezel back and a sapphire crystal case back that reveals the movement components and their sophisticated decorations. True to the collection's timeless style, the rectangular chronograph pushers lend a resolutely modern air to the harmoniously proportioned 12.05 mm case. This mechanical gem is mounted on a steel bracelet with a "sport-chic" design, featuring a satin-finished central link and two polished outer links.
This steel bracelet features a quick-change system, reflecting the growing importance of robust, versatile watches in today's world! This model is also accompanied by a blue Novonappa® calfskin leather strap, making the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control a truly all-season watch.
Caliber side: mechanical elegance, an expression of technical complexity!
A fine demonstration of Jaeger-LeCoultre's expertise in sophisticated watchmaking and mechanical elegance, the Master Control Chronograph Calendar watch is powered by Calibre 759. With a 65-hour power reserve, this integrated chronograph movement features a column-wheel mechanism with vertical clutch, combined with a full calendar featuring a moon-phase display.
Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, the mechanism's components are sublimated by refined finishes: côtes de Genève, blue screws, not forgetting the openworked gold oscillating weight, emblematic of the Maison and adorned with the "JL" motif. From design to assembly, including production and finishing, the movement was entirely developed and produced at the Manufacture du Sentier in the Vallée de Joux, as are all Jaeger-LeCoultre calibres.
