- NEW
Launched on the eve of the 37th America's Cup in Barcelona, the Seamaster Planet Ocean Edition Emirates Team New Zealand Deep Black pays tribute to the defending champions with a combination of the deepest black and the bold color of the Emirates Team New Zealand logo.
Omega and sailing
From young first-timer to old sea dog, OMEGA has encouraged sailors of all levels to take to the open seas. The Manufacture is proud to support crews such as Emirates Team New Zealand, but also Olympic champions such as Peter Burling and Blair Tuke. It also has the pleasure of timing historic competitions such as the America's Cup.
"ETZN" editions for a long-standing partnership!
OMEGA is proud to have been the passionate supporter and Official Timekeeper of Emirates Team New Zealand since 1995, when OMEGA joined forces with America's Cup legend, the late Sir Peter Blake. Since then, OMEGA has supported some of the most memorable victories in America's Cup history and supplied the precision watches chosen by the New Zealand team, such as the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M.
Planet Ocean 600M: A now iconic model
Following the launch of the Diver 300M, Seamaster was swept up in a whirlwind of creativity. The early 2000s saw the arrival of several new models that are now considered modern classics. This is particularly true of the very first Seamaster Planet Ocean, unveiled in 2005. It, too, took up many of the codes of the Seamaster 300, but distinguished itself from the other models in the collection - and indeed from all the other watches in the world - by one signature feature: the Co-Axial escapement. With its inspired aesthetics, orange bezel and distinctive helium valve, it immediately became the model that diving enthusiasts loved. As its name suggests, the ocean is its natural environment, and that's up to 600 meters below the surface!
A chronograph inspired by the turquoise sail!
To help the New Zealanders catch the wind in Barcelona, OMEGA was inspired by the sail in the Emirates Team New Zealand logo by highlighting certain watch elements in the same bright color. The result is a unique collector's item for the America's Cup, celebrating OMEGA's support for Emirates Team New Zealand!
This chronograph version features a black ceramic case, complete with a unidirectional black ceramic bezel which is adorned with a white enamel diving scale and a dot surrounded by a triangle at 12 o'clock, coated with Super-LumiNova emitting a green glow in the dark.
The matte ceramic dial refers to the pre-race with a RUN COUNT INDICATOR at 3 o'clock, complemented by the word START. The indicator hand and counter ring feature the turquoise color of the ETNZ logo, as do the minute track, the number 12 and the central chronograph seconds hand adorned with the America's Cup trophy. The color also appears on the satin-finish black ceramic push-piece rings, the HE on the helium valve and the OMEGA logo adorning the crown.
As a tribute to the New Zealand crew, the NAIAD LOCK caseback features an Emirates Team New Zealand logo embellished with a turquoise fern and white lettering. Surrounding the logo are the words "PLANET OCEAN DEEP BLACK" and the watch's water-resistance rating. OMEGA also adorns a horn with an engraving of the ceramic symbol [ZrO2].
A Co-Axial caliber certified Master Chronometer
There's no need to wait for the wind to rise to power this watch! The Co-Axial Master Chronometer 9900 caliber is at the helm. This self-winding chronograph movement resists magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. Equipped with a silicon balance spring, it displays the hour, minute and chronograph seconds in the center. Its display is completed by a small seconds counter at 9 o'clock, and a 12-hour and 60-minute counter at 3 o'clock. The caliber features rhodium-plated finishes and an arabesque Côtes de Genève motif, visible through the watch's sapphire caseback.
A special case for this model
To keep the Planet Ocean safe and dry when on land, an exclusive black case with a turquoise zipper and stitching has been specially crafted. As a tribute to this long-standing partnership, the OMEGA and Emirates Team New Zealand logos can be found side by side under the flap.
