The lightness of titanium

Like all professional-type instrument watches developed by Bell & Ross, the new BR-X5 Black Titanium, fully assumes its modern character by being clothed in titanium.

Employed in the aeronautical sector, titanium has long since earned its spurs in contemporary fine watchmaking. Light, comfortable and resistant, this high-tech material has a style all its own, with its sober hue slightly different from that of steel or white gold. In addition to being a third lighter than steel and boasting an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio, this metal has many remarkable intrinsic qualities, such as being hypoallergenic and highly resistant to corrosion. These properties add to those of the X5 skeleton case, designed to be equally light and strong.

The power of design

The BR-X5 favors purity and radicalism. The watch's sophisticated construction guarantees this. Assembled around a watertight container protecting the manufacture movement, the 41mm case is hollowed out and made of titanium to be lighter and more comfortable. The square bezel and crystals are attached to two plates forming the top and bottom of the case. The whole assembly is kept watertight by four screws passing through the thickness of the case. This multi-layer construction ensures perfect solidity. Made entirely of grade 2 titanium, the case is a distinctive grey. The anti-reflective matte finish is obtained by fine micro-sanding, underlining the singularity of the design.

Functionality as a rule

With the BR-X5 line, Bell & Ross takes its vision of style placed at the service of watchmaking performance to the extreme. The dial features a large date window at 3 o'clock and a circular power reserve indicator at 9 o'clock. The hour-markers and hands (except for the seconds hand) are coated with white SLN X1 luminescent material for optimum legibility day and night. A rehaut displays the numerical minute indications.

The performance of the COSC-certified movement

Like all watches in the BR-X5 collection, the new BR-X5 Black Titanium is powered by the calibre BR-CAL.323 mechanical self-winding movement. This caliber beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and has a power reserve of around 70 hours. This high-precision movement is equipped with an oscillating weight and a variable-inertia balance, visible through a large sapphire caseback. Another feature of this Manufacture movement is a rapid calendar correction device, enabling adjustment at any time. The caliber comes with a 5-year warranty and is chronometer-certified by the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres). A benchmark.
