A new caliber for the Manufacture's 35th anniversary

Created in 1988, the Frederique Constant watchmaking house celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2023. And the Manufacture was keen to open a new chapter with its 31st "Manufacture" caliber! This new automatic caliber reference FC-735 makes its debut in the Classic Power Reserve Big Date Manufacure, enlivening the watch with a large date, moon phase and power reserve indicator. For the occasion, the Swiss Maison presents it in 4 different versions, including two limited editions in rose gold or platinum cases, as well as two additional models with steel cases in the standard collection.

Designed, developed and assembled at the brand's manufacture in Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva, the latest FC-735 is the brand's first caliber to combine a large date, moon phase and power reserve complication in a single watch.

An iconic watch

The Classic design embodies the guiding principle that Frederique Constant has always followed since its creation 35 years ago, never deviating from it! This new Classic Power Reserve Big Date Manufacture thus honors this watchmaking art in every detail.

With this new iteration, Frederique Constant maintains the path of its original success, that of offering Swiss Made luxury watchmaking creations at a fair price. Indeed, this steel Classic currently represents one of the finest offerings on the market in terms of horological complication expressed in a classic design.

If there's a "Classic" in the name "Classic Power Reserve Big Date Manufacture" it's to designate the type of case used. Benefiting from the recent makeover, the case measures a compact 40 mm for a thickness of 12.19 mm. Fully polished surfaces exalt the watch's elegance, and the large fluted crown makes it easy to grip when making adjustments.

The three complications are elegantly arranged on the blue sunray dial. There's the power reserve indicator at 9 o'clock, with a thin dedicated hand that runs through a segmented arc from 0 to 50, terminated by a red zone indicating that it's time to wind your watch before it stops. Opposite, between 2 and 3 o'clock, the large date proudly displays its double circled aperture, one for the tens, the other for the units. A perfect balance, complemented by the moon phase at 6 o'clock, poetic and radiant against a blue background dotted with stars. On this magnificent dial, it's important to point out that this asymmetry is perfectly mastered by the brand and that this dial is truly visually balanced. Let's not forget to mention the indexes, reworked with greater finesse and which go well with the hands.

The whole thing is mounted on a blue alligator leather strap fitted with a platinum folding clasp. Finally, it's important to point out that this watch is designed with the desire to be as simple as possible. The complications of the Classic Power Reserve Big Date Manufacture are set directly by the crown. The three complications, the time and the winding mechanism are all operated by the crown. The transparent caseback reveals the inner workings of this new FC-735 Manufacture automatic caliber, with its openworked rotor, decorative circular graining and Côtes de Genève finishing. Beating at a frequency of 28,800vph, the movement offers a 50-hour power reserve.
