Tudor Prince Date Submariner automatic 36 mm Full Set 2001
Wouldn't this Tudor reference 75190 be the perfect "Submariner"? With its superb 36 mm-diameter case, monochromatic design and jubilee-look bracelet, it ticks all the boxes for a uniquely stylish diver's watch!
The basics
In the wake of ROLEX and born of the same father, Hans Wilsdorf, on March 6, 1946, the Tudor brand. It was created in order to be able to offer more affordable watches, but without any concessions to ROLEX quality standards. For a long time, Tudor watches were equipped with the same Oyster cases (with crowns and case backs signed ROLEX) and the same Oyster bracelets manufactured by the parent company.
The little story
The history of the TUDOR diver's watch dates back to 1954 and the launch of reference 7922. Water-resistant to 100 metres, it was the first in a long line of "diver's watches". Accessible, robust, reliable and precise, it represents the brand's tool-watch philosophy. The seven decades since its introduction have seen the continuous improvement of this TUDOR diver's watch and its acclaim by professionals in the field, including some of the world's leading navies.
The reference 79190 arrived in the catalog in 1995 with its small 36 version under the reference 75190. These were the last TUDOR Submariner references produced, and included many interesting evolutions, including a sapphire crystal with magnifier, circled hour markers as well as a notched unidirectional rotating bezel. The dial is available in several colors for the 36 mm version. The bracelet is a three-link Oyster with TUDOR logo, and a "jubilee" is also available for the smaller version. The model presented here is one of the latest to be produced, as it boasts a number of unique features! Indeed, this watch features an engraved polished steel bezel disk and a Luminova dial with the "Prince Date" wording, which abandons the term "Oyster" for good.
Long considered by some to be cheap Submariners, the Tudor Submariner Prince Oysterdate have a legitimacy and qualities that today make them a highly sought-after object of desire!
The model
The dial of this reference 75190 is a steel gray that offers a monochrome design of the most beautiful effect! The watch features a unidirectional double-locking steel bezel with a 60-minute scale engraved in black.
The indexes and hands are made of steel and filled with Luminova, offering excellent legibility. We still love the Mercedes hand! A date aperture at 3 o'clock is enlarged by a cyclops window. Unlike previous references, this Ref. 75190 uses sapphire crystal rather than Plexiglas, giving it a more modern look.
With its 36 mm-diameter case, this Submariner is slightly smaller than previous versions and, combined with the "jubilee"-style bracelet, its overall appearance is reminiscent of an elegant vintage diver's watch.
This Submariner "Midsize" is powered by the ETA 2824-2, a movement featuring 25 jewels, a bidirectional winding rotor with a stop-second function, which enhances time synchronization. The watch has a 42-hour power reserve and the movement also enables rapid date correction.
The package
This Tudor is in beautiful condition! For the record, this piece was one of the last produced, as its dial is in Luminova, and Submariner at Tudor went out of the catalog in the early 2000s. This watch was sold in January 2001 in France and will be delivered to you Full Set, with its original case and warranty. This watch was serviced by our Rolex watchmaker at our Rouen boutique in September 2023 and as such benefits from our one-year Lepage Vintage warranty.
