With the return of the DEFY collection in 2017, the star-spangled brand never ceases in its never-ending pursuit of precision through innovation. And this new DEFY Skyline is no exception: new caliber, new design, this contemporary DEFY series brings a new way of conceiving a three-hand sports watch.

A seventies inspiration

Cleverly blending the past and present of ZENITH's DEFY collection, through architectural lines and legendary robustness, the DEFY Skyline comes in an angular case with a dodecagonal steel bezel, directly inspired by the first DEFY wristwatches from 1969. While the deep blue hues of the starry night sky have been used extensively in previous ZENITH Boutique Editions, DEFY Skyline adopts a fresh metallic Ice Blue, with sparkling four-pointed stars engraved on a sunray base. To ensure perfect harmony, even the date disc matches the dial color.

As for the rest, the modern DEFY Skyline is instantly recognizable. Featuring a bold yet familiar silhouette from Zenith's repertoire, the DEFY Skyline draws inspiration from the unique octagonal dial shape of early DEFY models, without simply recreating the past. It is housed in a 41 mm octagonal steel case with a 12-facetted bezel. The bracelet sets a new standard for sports watches with integrated straps! It features a pretty drop and a beautiful brushed-polished finish, while also incorporating an ingenious quick-change strap system, making it easy to switch to the blue rubber strap supplied with this model.

An exceptional caliber with remarkable precision

Zenith has chosen to equip this DEFY Skyline with an El Primero caliber in an unprecedented three-hand version! Indeed, this reference is powered by an El Primero 3620, based on the architecture of the 3600 caliber used in the Chronomaster Sport range, on which the Swiss Manufacture has reworked a new gear train. This caliber beats at a high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour, has a bidirectional automatic winding mechanism and a 60-hour power reserve. As you will have noticed, a constantly moving tenths-of-a-second hand makes regular jumps at set intervals and completes one revolution every ten seconds, reminding its owner of the fleeting nature of time. This hand is directly driven by the silicon escape wheel. In conclusion, Zenith once again proves that this Manufacture is unique and different.
