- Limited edition
Continuing its "Change For The Better" program, ORIS presents "Lake Baikal", a special version of the Aquis Date in partnership with the Lake Baikal Foundation! This diver's watch, limited to 1999 pieces, features a 43.5 mm case, a dial with a striking blue gradation, and a steel caseback with a special engraving referring to the lake and an ornamental disc that beautifully evokes its frozen surface in winter.
A Mission: "Change For The Better"
Oris is a brand with a strong commitment to the environment and is multiplying environmental initiatives, which it brings together under its "Change For Better" mission. The brand even published its first sustainability report last year and launched its emissions reduction program with a target of 10% per year! What's more, it has created watches with some of the world's most committed change agents, including the Wadden Sea Joint Secretariat, the Billion Oyster Project and Wings of Hope, which has been nominated twice for the Nobel Peace Prize! And many of its watches feature sustainable deerskin straps made by the Swiss company Cervo Volante.
In 2020, Oris is committed to protecting and conserving the water of Siberia's Lake Baikal, the world's largest fresh water source. In this spirit, Oris has launched the Lake Baikal Limited Edition. Inspired by the Aquis high-performance diver's watch, it was created in partnership with the Lake Baikal Foundation. Sales of the watch will raise funds to support "Point No.1", a lake conservation project run by the Scientific Research Institute of Biology at Irkutsk State University. It is the most accurate and longest running environmental water monitoring project in scientific history.
A 43.5 mm Aquis Date
A true pillar of the ORIS brand, the Aquis watch is a high-performance diver's watch with a 43.5 mm diameter stainless steel case and unidirectional blue ceramic bezel. Water-resistant to 300 meters (30 bar), it is powered by a Swiss Made automatic mechanical movement which ensures the running of a date window at 6 o'clock.
The hands and indexes, as well as the "lollipop" second hand, are coated with Super-LumiNova®. The Aquis Date" is easy to read thanks to the contrasts of the dial. Thanks to the clarity and luminosity of the information, divers can check at a glance that the watch is functioning properly and that immersion times are being measured accurately in all situations. Appreciable peace of mind.
In reference to the deep waters of Lake Baikal, whose purity must be preserved, the dial of this special edition is a beautiful shade of blue, protected by a double-sided domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment.
The steel caseback also pays homage to the lake, with a special engraving and an ornamental disc that beautifully evokes its frozen surface in winter. And the number of 1999 pieces in the limited series has been defined in reference to the year in which Russia adopted the "Baikal" protection law.
Finally, this watch is dressed on an "Oyster" steel bracelet with a polished and satinized finish. This bracelet is equipped with a safety folding clasp with pushbuttons and an extension buckle for diving!

Engine side
Through the engraved steel case back we find the Oris 733 movement with its famous red rotor! Based on the Sellita SW 200-1, this automatic caliber beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of 38 hours. It features an instantaneous date window at 6 o'clock, as well as a fine timing and stop-second system.
