The Story

Many watch brands produce special series for the wrists of elite units! Collectors snap them up. In fact, the watch is not only one of the rare luxury fashion accessories for men, it is also the only object that these elite soldiers can wear in the field, outside their "kit". It's a sign of recognition, even of belonging, almost tribal: wearing a watch engraved on the back with one's name and regimental number, not a regulation watch, is concrete proof, a witness, of belonging, necessarily incognito, to these troops whose faces must not be seen for security reasons! It is therefore out of the question, except in rare cases, to be able to afford "the" watch worn in the heart of the action.

One of the most coveted versions among collectors is the Speedmaster "RAID". The Speed is an iconic watchmaking model, so when a private version of this icon is created for an elite tactical unit of the French police called "Recherche, Assistance, Intervention, Dissuasion", or "RAID" for short, it's a tidal wave! Founded in 1985, RAID is perhaps one of the most formidable tactical police units in the world, with only 450 highly trained members!

It was through mutual friends that Antoine de Macedo, owner of one of the oldest vintage watch boutiques in Paris, met the RAID leadership in 2015. They quickly struck up a friendship, and Antoine was presented with a medallion from the prestigious unit. And it is this medallion that will be the inspiration for a unique project.

ADM immediately thought that the RAID medallion could replace the one on the back of the Speedmaster and decided to propose a special edition of this watch to the RAID management. And so began a joint brainstorming session between him, the RAID and OMEGA. The project was initiated by ADM himself and began in earnest in 2017. It was not easy: it was necessary to define the aesthetic codes of the watch, the production volumes, the brand's requirements and the financing method. In the end, it was decided to limit the edition to 250 pieces, exclusively for RAID members. Let's not forget that there are only 450 police officers in this elite unit of the French National Police! This model is therefore not available to the general public.

What you need to know

This "RAID" Moonwatch bears the reference 311.30.30.42.30.01.007 and is based on the iconic reference 311.30.42.30.01.005 (the version produced from 2016 to 2021 with caliber 1861, steel bracelet and hesalite crystal). This particular model was indeed made and assembled in Switzerland by OMEGA!

At first glance, this Speedmaster doesn't have any distinctive features, but it does have some specific elements. In fact, here are the main points of differentiation:

• The background reproduces the RAID motto - SERVIR SANS FAILLIR - and its insignia in a central medallion.
• It is numbered XXX/250
• The black dial is identical to the traditional model, except for the color of the hands: the small hands are blue, white and red, three colors that are echoed in the arrow of the central chronograph hand.
