A French history

The famous "Nautic-Ski" diving watch is offered in 1967 for Lip's centenary. This handsome watch was truly launched for the 1968 Grenoble Olympic Games. It was the first French watch truly water-resistant to 200 meters. Several versions would be marketed, including some for female customers, such as the "Marie Curie", to thank this great lady for the innovations she brought to modern watchmaking.

The Nautic, Lip's sports watch par excellence, worn notably by Éric Tabarly and Commandant Cousteau's teams, had all the qualities required to meet the demands of this man of the sea: resistance, legibilitý, water-resistancé, precision and durabilitý.

The LIP Nautic-Ski Titane in detail

The Nautic-Ski offers a for the first time titanium case, water-resistant to 20 bars thanks to a transparent case back and screw-down crown. Its compressor case is inspired by the 1967 model, which makes the watch more waterproof as pressure increases. On this case, we find a bidirectional internal bezel operating as a countdown timer and not as a measure of time spent underwater.

Titanium is a super interesting choice on a diver's watch, because it's a c it's a material that's at once lightweight, resistant, anti-allergic and anti-corrosion. A perfect combination that is gaining in popularity with watch enthusiasts.

On this version, we find a matte black dial with baton hour markers and titanium-colored luminescent Arabic numerals and hands. It is topped by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. Finally, the Nautic Ski model's signature bidirectional inner bezel is adorned in black, to perfectly match the rest of the watch.

Time and date settings are made via the screw-down crown at 4 o'clock, while the crown positioned at 2 o'clock adjusts the internal bezel. Both crowns have been oversized for ease of handling. Finally, to reinforce its vintage look, this Nautic-Océan is presented on a black Tropic strap, made of rubber with a titanium pin buckle. As an added little surprise, a second strap comes with the watch, a black and grey NATO in 20 mm!

You'll have the pleasure of admiring the movement that powers this LIP through its transparent screw-down caseback. It's the Miyota 8215 3-hand date caliber. Featuring 21 jewels, it oscillates at 21600 vibrations per hour and offers a 40-hour power reserve.
