The Tara Ocean Foundation

The Tara Ocean Foundation is the first publicly recognized foundation dedicated to the Ocean in France. It has a dual mission: to explore the Ocean in order to better understand it, and to share scientific knowledge about the Ocean in order to raise collective citizen awareness. For the past 20 years, it has supported innovative Ocean science, in partnership with top research laboratories to study marine biodiversity as well as observe and anticipate the impacts of climate change and pollution.

Thanks to its status as a Special Observer at the UN, the Tara Ocean Foundation plays an active part in important decisions for the Ocean. To study and protect the Ocean is to take care of the planet's global system and our future.

An instrument watch at the service of a partnership

Bell & Ross has always imagined its watches as cut out for action. By joining forces with the Tara Océan Foundation, the watchmaking house is taking concrete action and embarking on board the schooner Tara. All crew members have adopted the Diver watch, a guarantee of legibility and efficiency. Regularly confronted with perilous conditions, they have to push back the limits of the extreme. To cope, these experienced scientists and sailors need to be able to rely on precise, reliable instruments, whatever the circumstances. A challenge that speaks to the Bell & Ross teams: the BR 03 DIVER by Bell & Ross was designed with this in mind. "For 30 years, Bell & Ross has been equipping exceptional pilots and divers whose missions and lives depend on their instruments and their machines. Bell & Ross is, in essence, the supplier of explorers and elite units, for whom each watch is designed to meet precise specifications according to the universe in which it is destined to evolve. That's why, to celebrate this first year of partnership, it seemed important to us to symbolize this union of skills through the creation of a timepiece, the BR 03-92 Diver Tara", explains Carlos-A Rosillo, President and co-founder of Bell & Ross. Each copy of the new BR 03-92 DIVER TARA also contains its share of commitment since, for every watch sold, a portion of the profits will be donated to the foundation.

A professional diver

To be in symbiosis with the Tara Ocean Foundation, Bell & Ross made the choice to design an instrument watch to match the missions of the scientists aboard the schooner Tara. The heart of the Tara Ocean Foundation's mission is intimately linked to that of a Bell & Ross watch. The same demands apply: precision. The BR 03-92 DIVER TARA is in line with these specifications. There's no room for the superfluous, and functionality takes precedence. Part of the BR 03 DIVER collection of professional divers, this limited edition of 999 pieces is naturally water-resistant to 300 meters. It features a 42 mm matt-blue ceramic case, fitted with a unidirectional blue and orange ceramic rotating bezel, graduated over 60 minutes, as required by professional divers. This timepiece is powered by the BR-CAL 302 self-winding mechanical movement, indicating hours, minutes, seconds and date.

To ensure perfect legibility of indications, on land, on board or underwater, the deep-blue metal dial supports applique hour markers and a white graduation benefiting from optimal luminescence in the dark thanks to a Super-LumiNova® coating. The seconds hand is instantly recognizable and legible thanks to its orange hue. The flexible, comfortable strap, closed by a blue PVD-coated steel pin buckle, is made of blue woven rubber lined with an ultra-resistant technical material.
