New Collection BR 03: a design as iconic as ever

The centerpiece of the Bell & Ross range, the BR 03 collection synthesizes the House's identity and symbolizes its style. Since 2006, the BR 03 has been one of the pillars of Bell & Ross. With its iconic design directly inspired by the cockpit of an airplane, the company has built on the fundamental principle of function with its emblematic "round in the square with four screws" design, born in 2005 with the BR 01. Totally "Ghostly"

A veritable professional tool, the BR 03 meets the legibility requirements of professional aviators: the bead-blasted black finish of the 41 mm case, found on aircraft instrument panels, optimizes dial reading by eliminating reflections.

But this Phantom version doesn't stop at its black ceramic case! It also offers a completely black dial that's perfectly legible at night, thanks to a photoluminescent coating specially developed by Bell & Ross.

Using the brand's distinctive typography, with its enlarged hour markers along the outer dial, this BR-03-92 Phantom is nonetheless incredibly legible. Add to this its bold, deep-black hands on a matte-black dial, and you have a pure cockpit instrument - as an aviation watch should be. The proportions of the dial are perfectly studied, creating an unrivalled graphic balance that draws the eye directly to the relevant information with ease. We particularly like the way the French brand integrates the date window at 4:30. Round and color-matched, it is designed to be discreet.

The difference in 1 mm

Bell & Ross has decided to revisit this watch to enable it to fully meet the expectations of today's watch enthusiasts. Moving from 42 mm to 41 mm, the reduction in case size resolutely changes the visual rendering of the timepiece. Able to detect seemingly insignificant details, the eye immediately perceives this reduction in size. The same is true of the slimmer lugs (4 mm vs. 4.5 mm previously), which now benefit from a faceted effect. The change is also expressed in the softening of the rounded corners of the case and the adjustment of the hands.

A high-tech ceramic case

In the world of aeronautics, and space in particular, ceramics occupies a place of choice in the manufacture of parts subjected to very high temperatures, acid attack, corrosion and erosion. It is used in heat shields and the nose cones of aerospace rockets. It is also used in the medical world for its biocompatibility. Bell & Ross has reworked ceramic to the point of developing a specific manufacturing process that enhances the intrinsic qualities of this remarkable material: ceramic is scratchproof, colorfast and lighter.

Add to this an intriguing three-part sandwich construction: The central case is secured by exposed screws, screwed in from above. By exposing these screws, Bell & Ross has captured the spirit of a cockpit instrument without succumbing to the superfluous. The same thing happens on the back, where four additional screws are screwed into the corners to secure the case back. The angular, articulated lugs complete this muscular look!

An automatic caliber

This watch is powered by the new version of the BR-CAL-302 caliber, built from the Swiss Sellita SW-300-1 movement. This caliber is a real tractor, beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and now offering 54 hours of power reserve! This latest-generation movement means you can put your watch down for a weekend, for example, and find it perfectly functional, at the exact time, two days later.
