The story

Designed in 1962, 1,714 Memovox Polaris watches were produced between 1965 and 1970. It was equipped with several types of dial and hands, depending on the markets for which it was intended. Tiny variations in numerals, hour markers and signatures are now the passion of the most discerning collectors. In 2008, Jaeger-LeCoultre decided to pay tribute to this legendary model by creating a more-than-perfect replica, the limited-edition Memovox "Tribute to Polaris". A reference very similar to the original Memovox Polaris, as it was launched in 1968, forty years earlier.

In 2018 Jaeger-LeCoultre relaunched the historic Polaris name with a complete new line of never-before-seen watches at SIHH 2018. A collection that highlighted the manufacture's heritage in diving watches. Since then, this collection has been enriched with various references.

What you need to know

To the delight of collectors and enthusiasts of the history of the iconic Polaris watch, Polaris Date faithfully reproduces the 1968 model, sporting its must-have features: a vanilla Super-LumiNova™*, which reproduces the vintage shade tribute to tritium, the triangle and trapezoid hour markers mixed with four Arabic numerals, the chemin de fer minute track... to which is added a date at 3 o'clock.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date features Jaeger-LeCoultre's signature polished and brushed case and the collection's two signature crowns, one for setting the time and the other for adjusting the rotating inner bezel. It rests on a rubber strap adorned with the Clous de Paris motif specially designed for this collection. The case is topped by a domed crystal, a further reminder of its vintage inspiration. What's more, the closed case back is decorated with an engraving depicting a scuba diver, similar to the one that adorned the back of the 1968 model.

Finally, we find caliber 899/1 to power this model. A Manufacture automatic movement measuring 4.65 mm in height, offering 38 hours of power reserve.

This 2022 "Polaris Date" will be delivered to you Full Set with its case as well as all its papers and documents. This watch in excellent condition has been inspected by our watchmakers and benefits from the JLC warranty until 2030.
