A mass-market version after its limited edition for the Expedition 7th Continent association

Lip presented its new Nautic-Océan with the Expedition 7th Continent at the beginning of 2023. The French brand of great explorers such as Maurice Herzog and Eric Tabarly, had then teamed up with Patrick Deixonne and Expédition 7e Continent to raise awareness of the urgent need to manage plastic waste in the oceans. To support this association, the watchmaker presented a new diving watch in a limited edition of 599.

The Nautic, the sporty watch par excellence in the Lip range, worn notably by Eric Tabarly and Commandant Cousteau's teams, had all the qualities required to meet the demands of this man of the sea: resistance, legibility, water-resistance, precision, durability.

The LIP Nautic-Océan in detail

The Nautic-Océan offers a 316L steel case, water-resistant to 20 bars thanks to a caseback and screw-down crown. Its compressor case is inspired by the 1967 model, which makes the watch more waterproof as pressure increases. On this case, we find a bidirectional internal bezel operating as a countdown timer rather than a measure of time spent underwater.

Beauty is the order of the day on its sunray dial, with a dark blue color that changes according to light reflections. It is topped by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The hands and hour-markers are coated with white Superluminova for easy reading in the dark. Finally, the Nautic Ski model's signature bi-directional inner bezel is adorned in blue and white, to perfectly match the rest of the watch.

Time and date settings are made via the screw-down crown at 4 o'clock, while the crown positioned at 2 o'clock adjusts the inner bezel. Both crowns have been oversized for ease of handling. Finally, to reinforce its vintage look, this Nautic-Océan is presented on a black Tropic strap, made from rubber.

A Japanese Miyota 8215 automatic movement

You'll have the pleasure of admiring the movement that drives this LIP through its transparent screw-down caseback. It's the Miyota 8215 3-hand date caliber. Featuring 21 jewels, it oscillates at 21600 vibrations per hour and offers a 40-hour power reserve.
