Winner of the "Chronograph" prize at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève 2021, the Chronomaster Sport represents the culmination of ZENITH's incomparable heritage of high-frequency automatic chronographs. Pushing back the limits of precision, it features a 1/10th of a second chronograph function, with a graduated scale on the bezel. Sporty, contemporary and undeniably part of the ZENITH El Primero family, the Chronomaster Sport is now available in an all-steel version with tricolor display on a striking blue background

Inspired by two icons

This Chronomaster Sport watch features the 41 mm steel case of the base model, but with elements borrowed from the most iconic El Primero references and even from ZENITH chronographs produced before the caliber was introduced in 1969! Indeed, this Chronomaster Sport with blue dial essentially evokes two El Primero references: the "De Luca" series II with blue dial, a limited edition from the late 1980s. Secondly, this model is also inspired by the "Rainbow" reference 01/02.0461.400 from the early 1990s.

For the first time in the Chronomaster Sport collection, the 41mm steel case with mushroom-style pushers is topped by a 1/10th-second bezel itself in steel, not ceramic. With its polished surface and black-filled engraved hour-markers, it boasts a resolutely retro look, reminiscent of earlier El Primero models. The sporty-chic character is rounded off by a three-link steel bracelet with an adjustable clasp.

The metallic blue dial with a sunray finish on this Chronomaster Sport masterfully plays with contrasts, textures and depths. One of the most emblematic features of El Primero design - the tricolor display - is highlighted in a new environment. The grey and blue chronograph counters are as striking as ever, and the blue background is distinguished from the blue counter by different shades and finishes. The date disc matches the dial.

An El Primero caliber 3600

Finally, we discover the latest version of the El Primero caliber through the sapphire caseback. Zenith has built on the foundations of the El Primero caliber and five decades of studies and improvements to El Primero and high-frequency chronographs to offer us here, for the first time, a display accurate to 1/10th of a second from the 5 Hz escapement (36'600 a/h) in direct reading on its bezel. This El Primero caliber, christened 3600, boasts a generous 60-hour power reserve - quite a feat with such a speedy heart! You can admire the architecture of this marvel as well as its blue column wheel and openworked rotor marked with the five-pointed star through its sapphire caseback.
