Founded in 1960 in Japan, the Grand Seiko watchmaking company benefits from a know-how forged in discretion, simplicity and perfection in every detail. Behind a refined design inspired by the beauty of the Japanese natural environment lies a manufacture movement of excellence and exceptional precision. Timepieces assembled and adjusted by hand by master watchmakers that will seduce true lovers of fine watchmaking.
Evolution 9 : A new era
Grand Seiko opens up to the future with this innovative collection! Since the launch of its new calibers 9SA5 and 9RA2 with their highly sophisticated watchmaking technology, the Manufacture has also wanted to offer a new design. This design is aimed at the new generation: with its clean lines, it exudes incredible power and discreet brilliance, while drawing on its heritage from Japanese culture and tradition. Recognizable among thousands, it is in every way faithful to the principles of the Grand Seiko Style, inherited in 1967 with the iconic 44GS. Grand Seiko's characteristic precision, legibility and beauty are visible in every detail, but a new depth emerges from the shape of the case and dial. These men's watches then reveal a real strength while remaining discreet and sober.
Heritage : Watchmaking tradition
The Heritage collection perfectly embodies Grand Seiko. The watches in this collection have a balanced design and emphasize the fundamental principles of watchmaking. This selection of classic watches revives the designs and styles of the first Grand Seiko timepieces, including the 44GS and 62GS from 1967, reinterpreted with state-of-the-art movements, manufacturing techniques and craftsmanship. It embodies Grand Seiko's unique Japanese aesthetic and benefits from the simple yet exceptional performance and finishing that the company has always been known for.
Elegance : The alliance of the classic and the contemporary
All watches in the Elegance collection are strong and durable enough to be worn on a daily basis. However, they are still refined, making them the perfect accessory for special occasions. Whatever the event, a watch from the Elegance collection will be the perfect companion, thanks to its subtle aesthetic. This collection combines Japanese aesthetics with the purity of Grand Seiko designs, offering infinite elegance.
Sport : A sporty design for all moments of life
The main features of Grand Seiko are perfectly in tune with the world of sports. Legibility and durability are essential qualities for lovers of sports watches, so Grand Seiko is a natural for those who want only the best. From diving watches to chronographs to GMT watches to automatic Spring Drives, the Sport collection offers a wide and attractive range.
Trois technologie : True nature of time
As a true integrated Manufacture, Grand Seiko is one of the only watch brands to offer three caliber technologies. All of them offer unique advantages and specificities, which can make the choice of a Grand Seiko watch difficult! But for many fans of the Japanese brand, this choice is not complicated! They decide to collect all three technologies, to truly understand the essence and soul of the brand.
Quartz : The essence of precision
The caliber 9F redefines the quartz watch by offering superior watchmaking performance and long life. It is the only quartz watch that deserves the name Grand Seiko! Indeed, precision, reliability and simplicity are the essence of the ideal watch. The 9F movement was the first quartz movement to achieve this fundamental ideal. While most quartz movements are manufactured on an assembly line, the 9F is entirely hand-assembled. Two master craftsmen combine their talents to maintain Grand Seiko's high quality standards: one assembles the date indicator and the other takes care of the movement. This is because the 9F has such complex functions! For example, the instant date change mechanism changes the displayed date in the blink of an eye. The 9F also has the torque of a mechanical movement, allowing it to display Grand Seiko's iconic large hands. The increased precision of the seconds hand allows it to be positioned with the utmost accuracy on the dial, against the indexes. Its hermetic structure improves the retention of lubricating oils.
Spring Drive : Flow of the Time
Spring Drive is a unique watch technology! Its history began in 1977, when Yoshukazu Akahane, a young engineer working for the company, tried to achieve what at first seemed impossible: a "timeless" watch. His goal was to create a traditional watch powered by a mainspring, capable of guaranteeing a daily rate accurate to one second. Twenty-eight years later, after 600 prototypes were completed, his dream finally came true with the launch of the first Spring Drive watch on the market. To achieve this result, this caliber combines the best elements of mechanical and electronic watches. Like all other mechanical watches, the Spring Drive movement is driven by a mainspring. This traditional way of generating power allows the watch to be completely self-sufficient, without the need for a battery or other power source. Secondly, the Spring Drive uses an exclusive speed control mechanism, the "Tri-synchro", which includes an integrated circuit, an electronic brake and a quartz crystal that transforms this energy source from the mainspring. The advantages of the Spring Drive are numerous: The precision is of the order of 15 seconds per month, and even 10 seconds for the special editions. The power reserve is 72 hours for the classic models, and can reach eight days for the brand's Masterpiece models. Moreover, the fluidity of the seconds hand is hypnotic, it glides over the dial, smoothly, in absolute silence! It measures time in a perfectly continuous movement, representing the true nature of time.
Mécanique : Craftsmanship
The concept of Grand Seiko was born out of the desire to make the best watch in the world. This brand continues to push the precision of mechanical watches to the limits of timekeeping technology. As a true manufacturer, Grand Seiko combines cutting-edge technology with the full extent of its craftsmanship to elevate the art of watchmaking to the highest level, and reach the technological limits of mechanical watches. The assembly of the mechanical Grand Seiko watches is allocated to master watchmakers who have demonstrated great expertise and who are able to adjust the heart of the watch, the balance spring, by hand to the nearest hundredth of a millimeter. This meticulous craftsmanship makes possible the extremely accurate measurement of time that the Grand Seiko mechanical movement provides. Grand Seiko's mechanical movements are tested against a unique and rigorous set of standards for 17 days. The movement is tested under different conditions including six different positions and three different temperatures. Its daily variations must meet strict tolerance rates to earn Grand Seiko status.
