The story

In 2017, RADO struck a chord by unveiling a "Captain Cook", a tribute to the first version to appear in its catalog in 1962! Finally, 2021, the year of hope and reinvention, is the year chosen to reveal an incomparable timepiece that will create a small revolution: the "Captain Cook" High-Tech Ceramic. It is the culmination of many years of research and development, building on the history and tradition of the Rado "Captain Cook". This model then adopts the brand's signature material: high-tech ceramics.

Making acquaintances

Rado has chosen to abandon the vintage feel of the Captain Cok and bring it squarely into the modern world. It features a 43mm "High-Tech" black ceramic case with a monobloc construction enabling it to be water-resistant to 300 meters. The choice of ceramic is a very good idea for a diver's watch, making it light and hypoallergenic. This enables it to offer impeccable everyday wearing comfort thanks to its contained weight.

As for its smoked glass dial, it reveals the heart of the caliber and its skeletonized plate, which nonetheless remains extremely legible thanks to large indexes associated with the famous hands, very characteristic of Captain Cook. The latter are generously provided with "Super-LumiNova", which offers an excellent contrast with the tinted dial by day, and a formidable blue luminescence by night for impeccable legibility.

This "Captain Cook" High-Tech Ceramic is equipped with a unidirectional diving bezel featuring a matt black ceramic insert. Finally, this model houses the Rado R734 caliber equipped with a Nivachron™ balance spring. This innovative balance-spring has the advantage in everyday life of protecting the timepiece from magnetic fields. This caliber offers 80 hours of power reserve and a daily precision of between 0 and +10 seconds.

The package

This Rado Captain Cook is in excellent, if not near-new condition! As this model is made of ceramic, it is insensitive to scratches. It will be delivered with its original case only. This model has been authenticated and checked by our watchmaker and as such benefits from the Lepage Vintage 1-year warranty.
