Iconic, this SPB299J1 is a modern reinterpretation of the Japanese diver of 1968. A special series, it is part of the Save the Ocean collection and evokes the magnificent landscape of Antarctica.
Seiko and diving
The Japanese Manufacture Seiko is known to watch lovers as one of the most reliable and legitimate brands in the world of diving watches. Since the launch of its first diver's watch in 1965, Seiko has been dedicated to exceeding divers' expectations with its innovative technology, creating timepieces that will help you cope with deep water obstacles in a wide variety of situations around the world. These timepieces have proven to be equal to the rigours of the environment and have received praise from professional divers.
A modern reinterpretation of the 1968 Diver's
This Prospex watch reference SPB383J1 is the modern reinterpretation of one of the Japanese brand's most iconic watches! A contemporary version of the original model released in 1968, it was at its time a revolutionary watch with 300m water resistance and a Hi-Beat 36000 automatic movement, a world first at the time! With a one-piece structure, unidirectional rotating bezel, and screw-down protective crown, this timepiece pushed the boundaries of precision, durability, and ease of use in watches for professional and amateur divers.
For this new release, this model stays true to its heritage in terms of design, but is updated to meet the standards of today's Prospex collection. The case design is inherited from the 1968 original, and the case sides are mirror finished. The unidirectional rotating bezel edge allows for easy control. This watch offers comfort and fit on the wrist by adopting a narrower case size of 42mm. Characterized by a black dial with a grained texture, this watch is inspired by the darkness of the deep sea. The indexes and hands are coated with Lumibrite to ensure optimal readability in the darkest conditions. Black is also found on the ceramic bezel, and is paired with a gold GMT hand to add that little touch of pizzazz!
This watch is water resistant to 200 meters and comes on a steel bracelet with a secure extension and clasp. The case has an ultra-hard coating and the sapphire crystal features an anti-reflective coating on its inner surface to ensure great readability from all angles. Finally, this model features a new three-link stainless steel bracelet with a slim profile that allows it to fit securely and comfortably on the wrist.
Technical side
This Prospex Diver's 200 is equipped with the Manufacture calibre 6R35 with automatic winding. This is one of the Japanese firm's essential movements which is notably used in most of the brand's watches. It beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers a comfortable 72-hour power reserve, allowing you to alternate with your other watches without having to systematically wind it. Designed to be reliable and robust, its construction is as simple as possible. On the complication level, the day and the date are displayed in an aperture at three o'clock, which is very practical in everyday life! Concerning the precision, the tolerance indicated by the firm is from -15 to +25 seconds per day.
