Appearing in the 1960s, the Seiko 5 was a new standard in the world of affordable mechanical watches at the time. Many even are the watch lovers who discovered watchmaking thanks to one of these models as affordable as robust and reliable! To celebrate the 55th anniversary of its 5 Sports line, the Manufacture is adding 4 new references to this popular collection. These are inspired by the brand's past, and to that end, they take up the codes of the Seiko divers of the 1980s, in the case of the SKX, a true icon of the brand.

A vintage SKX inspiration

Since 1996 and throughout its 23-year history, the Seiko SKX has become one of the most popular dive watches. This model has existed in two diameters: 42 or 37 mm. The first version reappeared in 2019 with the release of the very first Seiko 5 Sports SKX Style. For 2023, the brand offers a reduced version, 38 mm in diameter, in a neo-vintage spirit!

Thus, we find on this reference, a 38 mm "Diver's SKX" style case in stainless steel, with a thickness of 12.10 mm and a water resistance to 100 meters. Elle est habillée d’un bracelet en acier brossé de type « Oyster ».

Cette montre propose un cadran orange flamboyant du plus bel effet, avec des index luminescent cerclés, un affichage « jour/date » à trois heure, des aiguilles "dorées" en mode vintage, une lunette tournante unidirectionnelle de plongée noire et le tout est protégé par un verre minéral Hardlex. Un design néo-vintage parfaitement réussi !

Côté technique

Cette Seiko 5 Sports embarque le calibre manufacture 4R36 à remontage automatique. C'est un des mouvements incontournables de la firme nippone qui est notamment utilisé dans la plupart des montres Presage et Prospex. Il bat à une fréquence de 21 600 alternances par heure et offre une réserve de marche de 42 heures. Designed to be reliable and robust, its construction is as simple as possible. In addition, it offers a most appreciable "Day / Date" complication!
