Jaeger-Lecoultre Calibre 478 mechanical 34 mm circa 1950
Simple and elegant, this mechanical Jaeger-LeCoultre equipped with a 478 caliber has stood the test of time without a single wrinkle...
The brand
Do we really need to introduce the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre? Its name comes from the association of Jacques Davis LeCoultre and Edmond Jaeger in 1920. The first is part of the LeCoultre dynasty, a family of watchmakers established in the Vallée de Joux for generations. The second is known for being the supplier of chronometers for the French Navy.
In 1937, the collaboration between the two men grew so close that the Jaeger-Lecoultre brand was born. The "Grande Maison," the name given to the manufacture since 1888, then supplied movements to the greatest watch brands, such as Patek Philippe, Cartier and many others. The brand was then nicknamed "The Watchmaker's Watchmaker."
The manufacture would develop the mythical Reverso, the quintessence of Art Deco, before creating rounder classic watches from the 1950s. Since its inception, Jaeger-Lecoultre has developed more than 1,200 calibers that today give it a singular place in the world of watchmaking.
So Fifties
This 1950s steel Jaeger-Lecoules has a lot of charm! Its 34mm case will fit any wrist (mixed model) and its hand-wound mechanical movement, caliber 478, will defy the test of time for many more decades. Its steel case is in excellent condition, as is its domed plexi glass. With its patinated dial and hands, applied indexes of the most beautiful effect and its finesse, this timepiece will delight you for years to come.
The Package
This vintage watch is a beautiful mixed piece for watch lovers and those in the making. Its design and caliber tells us of a production during the 1950s. If you look closely, you will find a slight resemblance to the mythical Geomatic, which will arrive in 1962.
This watch will come to you in a protective case. Its ostrich leather strap is brand new. This Jaeger-Lecoultre has been authenticated, cleaned and adjusted by our watchmaker and as such benefits from the Lepage Vintage 1 year warranty. You can benefit from a free engraving (case back) upon request.
