The brief history

The TAG Heuer Formula 1 made its debut in 1986, shortly after Techniques d'Avant Garde acquired Heuer giving birth to TAG Heuer. Techniques d'Avant Garde was a leading manufacturer of high-tech aviation and race car components, such as ceramic turbochargers for Formula 1 cars. In a decision that would define the brand for decades to come, TAG Heuer chose to maintain its relationship with watchmaking through watches such as Formula 1 as well as through other partnerships with various motorsports.

One of the inspirations for the Formula 1 is the Heuer Easy Rider, a 1970s sports watch that attempted to appeal to a younger audience with its affordable mechanical movement, resin case and striking colors. Although the watch was not a major commercial success, a direct link can be made between the Heuer Easy Rider and the TAG Heuer Formula 1.

Released in the 1980s, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 is a creation of its time, not only in terms of politics and culture, but also for its appearance in the aftermath of the "Quartz Crisis".Interrupted between 2000 and 2004, the Formula 1 makes a comeback with a look that seems familiar, but slightly more polished. Special features and functions are added, such as an alarm, and in 2015, the watch is introduced adopting the Autavia style, with a C-shaped case, affirming its high-end trajectory.

Getting to know each other

This TAG Heuer Formula 1 chronograph features three counters and a black, highly legible dial. This watch will be suitable both on the racetrack and in everyday life, with its 42mm case and stainless steel bracelet. Immediately noticeable is its black tachymetric bezel, which is clearly inspired by the models of the time.
