When A. Lange & Sohne in 1994, the Manufacture introduced the LANGE 1, symbolizing the revival of a Manufacture rooted in Saxon tradition but with a remarkable modernity. For more than 10 years, the LANGE 1 was the ambassador of Lange, helping to restore the company's reputation as a maker of fine German watches. Its worldwide triumph made it the perfect piece to incorporate a much sought-after complication: a second time zone display. That's why the brand introduced the LANGE 1 Time Zone in 2005, the ideal watch for those who travel frequently. Legibility has been prioritized so that with a simple glance, one can immediately switch from the local time displayed on the large screen to the second time zone, indicated on the auxiliary dial placed at 4 o'clock. The model allows you to find your way perfectly in the 24 time zones of the globe, even when it is dark...

A rare platinum version

The watch we present is one of the rare platinum versions produced, much more confidential than the models offered in gold! It is also one of the first series, this watch being sold in 2006. In recent years, the LANGE 1 Time Zone has evolved, with a new caliber and a subtly modified dial, but since then, no platinum version has been represented.

On this model, we find a 42mm-diameter case that features a dial crafted in solid silver adorned with white gold appliques and hour markers. To play up the contrast, touches of blue are discreetly integrated on the seconds hand and the day/night indicators. The whole is meant to be delicate and precious.

An ultra technical caliber

This watch is powered by the Manufacture mechanical caliber L031.01. Visible through the sapphire caseback, this movement offers all the features of the LANGE 1: a double barrel offering a power reserve of more than three days, the patented large date, four screw-in gold catches, a screw balance with precision swan-neck rack and hand-engraved balance cock. Like all Glashütte movements, there is a three-quarter plate. Above it is a gear train that controls the time zone display. As for the intermediate cock integrated into the gear train, it bears the inimitable personal signature of a master engraver from Lange.

As for a technical point of view, the caliber offers the display of two time zones simultaneously. The large time circle shows the home time and is linked to the large date, while the time of the second time zone is displayed in the smaller time circle. The second time zone is easily adjustable with a switchable city ring that shows all 24 time zones simultaneously. When the time zone button at 8 o'clock is pressed, the city ring moves from west to east by one time zone. At the same time, the hour hand on the small subdial advances one hour. Pressing the time zone button 24 times is equivalent to taking a trip around the world.
