First reference offering a ceramic bezel

This reference 116515LN marks the introduction of a new material: ceramic. Introduced in 2011 on this Daytona model in Everose Gold, it is used for the tachymetric bezel. But like all innovations at Rolex, this bezel brings a real innovation. Indeed, the Cerachrom monobloc bezel in high-tech ceramic offers many advantages: its hardness makes it virtually scratchproof, it retains its color despite the effects of UV rays and is insensitive to corrosion. In addition to this extreme durability, the tachymeter scale is extremely easy to read, with its graduation molded in a recess and then colored by depositing a thin layer of platinum or gold using a PVD process.

A manufacture chronograph calibre

This Daytona is equipped with the caliber 4130, a mechanical column wheel chronograph movement with vertical clutch and automatic winding entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. This caliber was presented on March 23, 2000 at Baselword and opened a new era for the Daytona models!

Like all Rolex Perpetual movements, the 4130 is COSC certified. The oscillator, the heart of the watch, includes a patented blue Parachrom balance spring produced by Rolex in an exclusive alloy. Perfectly insensitive to magnetic fields, this balance spring is highly stable in the face of temperature variations and remains up to ten times more accurate than a traditional balance spring in the event of a shock. In addition, its architecture includes fewer components than a standard chronograph, thus improving its reliability.
