To honor its 175-year history, Longines has imagined a timepiece that testifies to its rich watchmaking heritage and its constant quest for elegance, The Longines Master Collection Retrograde. This novel watch, containing a new automatic mechanical caliber specially developed for Longines, becomes the flagship model of a collection dedicated to highlighting the company's watchmaking tradition.

Design

Presented in 2011, this model is the 41 mm diameter version. The shape of its case is directly inspired by a model dating from 1945. The slim lines and the broken lugs of the case give these pieces a subtle balance between classicism and modernity. This reference features a white guilloche dial with "barley grain" pattern, topped by blued steel hands. Its black alligator strap offers a triple folding clasp.

An exclusive caliber!

Enclosing an ETA caliber, specially developed and made exclusively for the Longines brand, this self-winding movement synthesizes a mechanical watch complication and simplifies its use. In addition to the time display, its functions include a day of the week indicator at 12 o'clock, a date on the right side of the dial, a second time zone with a 24-hour scale on the left side of the dial, and a small seconds hand at 6 o'clock, below the moon phase. These four functions are retrograde, which means that the hands used to display this information return instantly to their initial position once they have completed their journey. Dancing in harmony, the seven hands trace a graceful ballet that makes the movement of this piece captivating. To correct the different displays, simply adjust with the correctors present on the watch's edges.
