BR 03-94: An aviation-inspired chrono collection

A high-tech ceramic case

In the aeronautical world, and particularly in space, ceramics occupy a prominent place in the manufacture of parts subjected to very high temperatures, acid attacks, corrosion and erosion. It is used in heat shields and the nose cone of aerospace rockets. It is also used in the medical world for its biocompatibility. Bell & Ross has reworked ceramic to develop a specific manufacturing process that enhances the intrinsic qualities of this remarkable material: ceramic is scratchproof, colorfast and lighter.

Added to this is an intriguing three-part sandwich construction: The center case is attached by exposed screws, screwed in from above. By exposing these screws, Bell & Ross has captured the spirit of a cockpit instrument without succumbing to superfluity. The same thing happens on the back, where four additional screws are screwed into the corners to secure the case back. The angled and articulated lugs complete this muscular look!

Mechanical side

Within the BR 03-94 Chrono, we find the BR-CAL.301 automatic chronograph movement, built from a Sellita base. This movement is highly decorated to be seen through the transparent case back. The rotor is skeletonized at 360 degrees, giving the watch a technical sensibility while offering a view of the finishes beneath. The choice of this caliber makes perfect sense; it's a true tractor, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering 40 hours of power reserve.
