The design of this Presage Style 60's series is inspired by the Crown chronograph introduced in 1964 as the official watch of the Tokyo Olympic Games. The Crown was Japan's first wristwatch chronograph and had several revolutionary new functions. At the time, it was manually wound and although it was triggered by a single push on the single pusher at 2 o'clock, Seiko's watchmakers chose to use a column wheel to increase the reliability of the chronograph function. A simple yet sophisticated watch. Already in 2020, it was the subject of a very clear evocation, with a short limited series of 1964 pieces equipped with the 6R35 caliber.

With its contemporary colors and earthy accents, this new version blends the vintage design of the 1964 creation with contemporary elements to create a collection with a retro touch that is perfect for modern times.

A question of style

The new collection features the Crown chronograph with a box-shaped glass, faceted indexes and sharp hands. A design with a soft feel that reveals a vintage look from the 1960s. The inner circular space of the dial and the outer surface with the hour markers are finished with different techniques to improve readability and create a warm vintage atmosphere with different expressions depending on the angle of view. The 40.8mm diameter steel case is delicately rounded as well as slightly curved to ensure wrist comfort. The lugs are carefully polished to a mirror finish, giving the watches a certain sharpness in their soft and delicate appearance, creating a perfect balance between modernity and vintage spirit.

The SSA453J1 features a beautiful sunray blue open heart dial topped by a blue aluminum bezel. Its NATO strap in brown leather gives it a little air of adventurer. It brings a more sportive touch compared to the previous models. One thing is sure, this modern watch is practical with a retro vintage look typical of the 1960s. We love it!

Technical side

This Style 60's is powered by an automatic caliber visible through the transparent case back. It features Seiko's 4R39 movement, which we already know from the Presage collection.
Completely in line with the mission of the Presage line, this movement offers a quality-price ratio with nice complications! We find a 24-hour indicator above the open heart. Reliable and precise, it delivers around 40 hours of power reserve and operates with a frequency of 21,600 vibrations. This technical choice saves you from a regular service interval.
