Seiko reinvents its iconic Sumo, taking it to the next level! With its imposing 45mm diameter, ceramic bezel, sapphire crystal and 6R35 caliber, it is one of the most attractive divers in the range!
Seiko and diving
The Japanese manufacturer Seiko is known to watch enthusiasts as one of the most reliable and legitimate brands in the world of diving watches. Since the launch of its first diver's watch in 1965, Seiko has been dedicated to exceeding divers' expectations with its innovative technology, creating timepieces that will help you face deep water obstacles in a wide variety of situations around the world. These timepieces have proven to be equal to the rigors of the environment and have received praise from professional divers.
Reinterpretation of an icon: Sumo
This reference SPB323 uses as a basis an emblematic model of the Japanese brand, the "Sumo". First released in 2007, this watch was named Sumo by many fans of the brand. Why this nickname? Perhaps it was its muscular appearance or the shape of its bezel which resembles the Dohyo, the ring where Sumo fights take place. But the name stuck, and this watch has become an icon in Diver's Seiko collection! It is recognized as one of the most robust and reliable watches for divers.
This new release inherits the 2007 design, but improves it with the addition of a beautiful ceramic bezel and a diashield anti-scratch coating on the case and bracelet to reduce the appearance of scratches and scuffs. The bracelet design is also new, with a reinterpretation of the oyster bracelet design, while the clasp has been updated.
On this reference, we find a sublime dial with a pressed pattern with gradations of gray! It is topped by imposing indexes filled with Lumibrite, and is animated by large hands.
Technical side
This Prospex Diver's 200 King Sumo is equipped with the manufacture caliber 6R35 with automatic winding. This is one of the Japanese firm's essential movements, which is used in most of the brand's watches. It beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers a comfortable 72-hour power reserve, allowing you to alternate with your other watches without having to systematically wind it. Designed to be reliable and robust, its construction is as simple as possible. As for complications, the day and date are shown in a window at three o'clock, which is very practical for everyday use!
This watch is also water resistant to 200 meters, and meets the ISO diving standards. Its crown is sighted and the case is topped with a sapphire crystal.
