Frédérique Constant's Classics Heart Beat Moonphase Date collection has marked the history of the Geneva-based company. It has been in the collection for eight years now, and its longevity is a testament to the perfection of its lines. Today, this model is back in the spotlight with a model in line with its aspirations: classic in spirit, modern in execution.

A classic and timeless model

Timelessly accurate, traditional and modern at the same time, it is harmonious for all wrists. The composition of its sublime blue guilloche dial reflects the same balance. At 12 o'clock, we find the brand's signature open heart, nicknamed "Heart Beat".
In perfect symmetry with the opening, at 6 o'clock, a moon phase is displayed. This complication is often considered poetic for its cosmic beauty. It scrolls on an almost monthly cycle (29.5 days), and balances the fast and accurate pace of the seconds hand, bridging the gap between short and long time. In the center of the dial are four hands. The first two, the hour and minute hands, end in a so-called Breguet pattern, which is a subtle historical reminder of the traditional aesthetic canons of early watchmaking. The next hand is the long and slender seconds hand. The last hand, differentiated by its arrow motif, points to the date, indicated in a circular fashion on the flange. The watch is worn on a blue leather strap with white stitching, closed with a steel pin buckle. The whole is of course protected by a domed sapphire crystal.

Technical side

The Manufacture has chosen to use the FC-335 self-winding caliber, clocked at 28,800 vibrations per hour, a testament to the Swiss Made quality of workmanship dear to Frédérique Constant.
It has been designed with special attention to simplify the setting: winding, hours, minutes, date and moon phase adjustment are done with the one and only crown. The first position winds the movement, while the fourth sets the time. The date is adjusted in the second position, and the moon phases in the third. This system ensures that the mechanism is not damaged.

The "Heart Beat" aperture, designed nearly 30 years ago, reveals the beating heart of the watch. Its escapement gives life to the mechanical self-winding FC-335 movement, clocked at 28,800 vibrations per hour, a testament to the Swiss Made quality that is so dear to Frédérique Constant. It has been designed with particular attention to simplicity: winding, hours, minutes, date and moon phase adjustment are done with the one and only crown. The date adjustment is done in the second position, and the moon phases in the third - as long as the hands have been positioned at 10.10 beforehand, so as not to damage the mechanism.

This caliber also offers a nice finish. Visible through its transparent caseback, the piece exposes without limit its mechanical intimacy and its finishes dear to the Geneva manufacture, such as the Côtes de Genève and circular-graining. The escapement that brings the movement to life is visible on the dial side, where we find the expression of the watchmaking mastery that has characterized Frédérique Constant since the beginning.
